I feel so sorry for Kirk Langstrom and Curt Connors. They're both just innocent family men trying to restore what they lost. Kirk wants to restore his hearing while Curt wants to restore his lost arm. But as a consequence, they turned themselves into savage monsters. But luckily there are heroes who only want to help them get back to normal.

Kirk is a brilliant zoologist and geneticist that specialized in chiropterology (the study of bats) in the Gotham City Museum of Natural History. With almost no funding for his studies, Kirk would sneak into the museum at night to extract glands and DNA from the live bats to develop a way for humans to gain better hearing and make going deaf a problem of the past. The goal was to mix just the right amount of DNA from the bat’s gland into human DNA to achieve his desired effect. The problem was, the only person to test his secret experiments on were himself. Since he was quickly losing hearing himself, he decided to make himself the guinea pig. The experiment worked...a little too well. He developed super hearing that was too powerful and within hours developed the look of a bat-a man-bat. A half man, half beast that is crazy and violent with vicious animal instincts.

I always thought that this would be a great hard R horror movie. I'm not one of these make everything hard R guys but this has such a potential for horror and gore. The fact that man-bat makes a home in the bat cave gives off a lot of xenomorph in the escape ship vibes. How they haven't done Red Hood yet is beyond me. But this would be great.

Odd. the couple of comics I stumbled onto long ago had Manbat as a hero who used a formula to switch, but remained himself when he changed, even being able to speak and trade quips with the bad guys (it was the thing back then). He always looked for bounties as he had to support himself and his wife. Must have been a relatively short period for the character? hmmm.
