In 2002 when the first Sam Raimi movie was released, I was a camera assistant working on Dark Angel, the last episode of which Cameron directed. Between set-ups, a crew member and myself were talking about Spiderman having just seen it that weekend. We suddenly hear Cameron behind us asking "is it any good?". We gave our brief opinion and he nodded then went very quiet. Finally he sighed and said, "yeah, that one still stings..."

Interesting documentary - thanks! Can't remember the source but I recall hearing that the 2002 Spider-Man film originally had its entire finale take place atop the World Trade Center, and some detail about a helicopter being held by webbing strung between the twin towers. Presumably those scenes were shot, as the film was in post-production when "09/11" happened, necessitating re-shoots. It would be interesting to see those scenes one day. It seems quite a lot of the Raimi trilogy had roots in the various un-produced treatments that Cameron and others had written previously. Much of it made it to the screen in one way or another, but it's a shame some good stuff was discarded - defeating Sandman by turning him to glass sounds pretty darn awesome; better than what we eventually got :)

You know what before Tobey Maguire Andrew Garfield & Tom Holland I mean back in the 80's that they should made a First Marvel's Spider-Man movie from the mid 1980’s like casting choice like Christopher Atkins as Spider-Man/Peter Parker Jennifer Runyon as Black Cat/Felicia Tina Louise as Aunt may Michael Caine as Uncle Ben Claudia Wells as Mary Jane Watson Don Murray as Jona Jameson Billy Dee Williams as Robbie Robertson Dustin Hoffman as Agent Nick Fury and Jennifer Beals as Black Widow & even the Bad guys like non outer late Raul Julia as Dr Doom late Andre the giant as The Rhino Mark hamill as the Green Goblin Frank Ashmore as The Lizard Michael Berryman as The Vulture & Gary Oldman as The Mysterio Even the Filmmakers like Directed by Sean S Cunningham Producer by Roger Corman executive producer by Stan Lee (before he pass away) & Albert Pyun Make up artists by Dick Smith Creature effects by John Carl Buechler Stop Motion animator by Phil Tippett special-effects technician by Greg Jein Visual effects by Richard Edlund production designer by William Sandell music by Wendy Carlos screenplay by Renny harlin Writer by Stanley Kubrick Professional stunt double by Jean Claude Van Damme & David prowse and now they call’ed it Roger Corman’s Spider-Man vs Doctor Doom (1985) from New World pictures and Association with Marvel predictions Ltd But this will be the first live action Marvel Superhero 🦸♂️ Movie 🎥 Called Spider-Man Vs Doctor Doom (1985) but the live action Marvel Movie 🎥 will be turn be a knock off of The Empire Strikes Back (1980) and Fast Times at Ridgemont high (1982) but unfortunately the 80’s Live Action Spider-Man Movie might be a low budget film 🎞 because it might be aired on cable tv 📺 network like on HBO and it will be from New World Pictures and Marvel Production Ltd Not Cannon Films!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

it's because of Russell's role as Snake Plissken, right?

@@KenMasters. He could of legit played Snake in a 90s Metal Gear Solid film. He would of been pitch perfect for Cyclops in a 80s X-Men film too.
@KenMasters.3 жыл бұрын
@@sammybou1116 But Kurt Russell was already a Snake though (I don't think he would typecast himself as what he was already know for). Also, what should existed is a Metal Gear Solid film series with Jason Bateman as Solid Snake. On Cyclops... I wouldn't think Kurt Russell is ready enough to cut off his long mullet for the part, also he is under 6'0", not tall enough for Scott Summers.

I'd like to see James Cameron direct a future MCU movie or even a future Spider-man movie, I don't know if he'd do it or how much it would cost marvel/Sony to hire him (probably a lot) but one can imagine.

0:56 I always chuckle when Stan Lee talks about Spider-man, he says he's relatable because he's "not that successful with girls", and then over the years Peter goes on to date several top model level women

I used to have a key ring, with Spidey's face. Around it were the words "Spider-Man," "James Cameron," "Leonardo DiCaprio," & "88." I got it around 89, and we knew, then, it was mercy for a canceled film. My great regret is that the plastic fob got stepped on. I still use the metal ring, tho.

When DiCaprio was 14? He was 22 in '96 Titanic and looked like a baby. I'd buy that he was attached to the project post 90 but not as early as '88.

The animated Spider-Man 1981-82 was not syndicated. It aired on NBC before Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends.

@@darkhall8227 Wikipedia is full of bad data because it relies on the public for it's editing. I just took a quick look at the page, and it's a mess. In the "Broadcast and home media release" section, someone has removed all of the broadcast information, and left only the home media release data. This series was eventually put into syndication, but that was many years after it's original broadcast on NBC.

I was a freshman in high school when all the news hit about Cameron taking on Spider-Man. I remember being absolutely excited that the man that brought us T2 was at the helm. In hindsight though, I think better writers would have made the difference with Cameron directing, of course. But as time has gone on, I have realized that writing is not his strong point. That being said in the early ‘90’s that would have been the ultimate film. I also recall the rumors that Schwarzenegger was down to play Venom. It would have been interesting to say the least.

However, after seeing this and knowing about the potential of Schwarzenegger and DiCaprio being in it too, I don't think I can ever watch a Terminator movie without thinking, "What if Kyle Reese was Spiderman?" or a Spiderman movie without thinking, "What if the main villain was the Terminator...and they were on the Titanic?"

That Carolco Pictures, Fox and Universal and this studio and that studio were trying to get the rights to them. Angela Basset and Bob Hoskins and Leonardo DiCaprio and Arnold Schwarzenegger fan boy heaven. But thank god that Marvel is in the 21st century.
