If I may give a little suggestion, in editing, please boost your audio, your voice is very low in the video, then when you play the music its extremely loud, I keep having to lower and raise the volume to keep it at the same level. Its a great video but yea I keep having to change the volume every time you switch from montage to you speaking.

The new lens is way too blurry when you show something in the background, like the lines or the radar domes. Or when the focus is not perfectly on point.

Hi Tristan & other boaters. Just wondering after you were talking about one of the guys maybe having to go for a swim to retrieve the port line, what would be the procedure if the main anchor got snagged on deep rock, a reef or something else and could not be freed. Would the chain and anchor have to be discarded? The anchors on AWOL look customised with their flat plates, so I imagine that leaving them on the sea floor would be 'undesirable'. Does this situation happen to other boats sometimes? I saw on an episode of Below Deck when they had a major anchor chain tangle they considered jetison of anchors and chains - but in some harbours apparently it's not allowed to enter without anchors available. Thanks for any insights into this.

Tristan, wondering if in calm conditions like that do you still use the engines to move AWOL up to the anchor as the chain is taken in? I would imagine yes, but on my boat (admittedly much smaller at 34 ft) I can haul the boat up to the anchor by hand if it's calm enough. AWOL is a much heavier boat so it might be too much for the windlass.

get a full frame camera with 16mm for that wide shot goodness if you upgrade. 16mm on an apsc sensor is like 24mm, still pretty tight of a shot. full frame cameras will also do much better in low light cause of the bigger sensor. canon eos r or if you want to go hard, the r5. the r5 autofocus is godly.

When you were saying how big your stern lines were it was hard to see in my head how big you were talking about. When you went to the back and showed the size I started laughing. I think my thickest line is half of what you are using. I have a 30 m ocean Alexandra and off the top of my head I don't remember the size of line but I do know I went one size bigger after buying my boat. They give you everything you need to enjoy boating but I always go and pick up extra things just like the life preservers they give you. I don't care for those big bulky orange ones. I buy the ones that look like vest. I don't know if you guys have West Marine in Europe here in America they are about the only boat oriented store in our country. I never throw away the life jackets that come with the boat that I'm buying they're just extra in case of emergencies. There's been a couple times in our home water of the Chesapeake Bay that we heard a emergency call and we're not too far away. Once we got to the location I started throwing life preservers overboard for the people to put on and then pull them aboard our boat. I absolutely loved where you anchored up at. We have a few places in Maryland off to Chesapeake that is sort of shaped that way but is not as beautiful as it look like where you were. We only have brown stained water. From watching your videos and seeing where you get to go my wife and myself are really considering putting our boat on a transport boat and spend all of next summer going to completely new places. I enjoyed your video like always and I look forward to more.

The Bay water quality has become horrible. When I started boating as a kid in the 70s the water was a clean green. We could see the bottom in many places 10-15' down. In one anchorage on the Chester River we could see 50' away with a mask underwater. It's so sad. Too much development and farming is killing this estuary. We only have ourselves to blame.

Do I understand correctly that a Superyacht like yours has to constantly run Generators day and night with tied to shore beeing the only exception? Since you guys do not have any Inverters (correct me if I am wrong), wouldnt it be a great thing to consider inverters and batteries to be able to turn the Gens off at least over night maybe? Captain, how does your crew anchor to the rocks on shore? Do you just loop the line around a boulder, or do you use any sort of fixed (bolted) anchor points for your lines? I am curious if you just loop around a boulder, do you use some sort of chaffing protection? I’ve med-moored with smaller sailing yachts and our shore party would have to scramble ashore to find a sturdy tree, or some sort of hearty boulder. Also, on a sailing yacht, you have stern winches, for trimming the aft/shore lines. How do you trim them on a super yacht? I see the cleats, but I don’t know if you’re equipped with aft winches. Kudos for the overkill on the 18mm polypro lines. Always good to have stout mooring lines. You know if one breaks, it will be in a terrible gale... at night... which quickly turns into a total shit show to rectify. Thanks for giving us all a glimpse into the life of a professional mariner!
@RichardAmmo14 жыл бұрын
Pablo Honey That is a “Yes” for tying onto the rocks. He showed how they actually use a strap to wrap around the rock; then they connect the rope to the strap to prevent chafing on the lines. I think he showed that maybe three videos back? This is the second time on this trip, that they have done this. I’m curios about what the folks living there think? Maybe they like seeing the different yachts that come in there? Maybe they don’t? Maybe this is the first time a yacht has ever visited them before? Inquiring minds would like to know!
