I'm guessing that your potted moringas are planted in top pot ? I have had nothing but trouble trying to grow them in pots. They always rot and die. I bought some seed and am going to direct sow into the ground next spring.

William Butler Yes they are in top pot. I started them from seed in peet moss then when they were a few inches tall transplanted them

Hello, I was wondering how often you water your container avocado trees in the winter and in the summer. Daily, every other day, or as needed based on how hot and dry it is? I live in Southeast LA County near Orange County. I use Gary’s best top pot in all my containers. Thank you

I water approximately every other day. The dry winds where I’m at cause drying. I also use a moisture meter to check the soil. I use 3 inches of mulch in the containers too.

Great video! I like to watch your channel because your information is very helpful. One question, how often do you fertilize your tree that are in the pot? I have mine in pots and don’t know much about fertilizing trees.

Miguel Samaniego I use less fertilizer more often than 4 times a year as is recommended. I add a little once a month during the spring, summer and fall. Just enough as I circle around the top with a 1 cup scoop.

Hey! I have a Hass in Australia, it’s still quite young and stands about 5 feet tall. It has let off a lot of new, healthy looking growth. However, it’s older leaves are browning and dying. I’m not sure what to do or what this means. It is in a pot

Maddie Priede that’s what the older leaves do. Keep them under the tree as mulch

What part of aus do you live? I am in Victoria and I have a bacon avo tree. I am looking to buy or swap some scions of hass, fuerte, lamb hass, Pinkerton etc. I can’t find anyone who will sell just cuttings. I don’t want to buy more trees as I have already got heaps of seedlings and I want to graft onto them. I want to have a few a multi variety avo trees if you know what I mean. Would you be interested in swapping some cuttings? Bacon are amazing when you have a hass cos it will help you get better pollination and more fruit. I have other fruit trees etc too I am happy to swap with anyone who can help me with some cuttings.

@@NMW80 am in the exact same position here in Vic also with a Bacon and seedlings lol... Hoping to also buy/swap Hass to add a graft. Surely there's a group for this sort of thing, but I haven't had any luck finding one yet. Best of luck.

Great idea with the shade cloth. You have given me some great ideas now of what I am going to do to cover up my avo trees when needed. Do you have just rocks in the tins? I think I might make some concrete tins with the poles in them for stakes. I might get some different length poles and place in tins with concrete to keep them from falling over and then I can move them around when I need them. The umbrella is a great idea too. Do you clip it on to the poles or just sit it on top? I guess it would stay if it’s not windy but yeah I will prob just get some shade mesh to go on top. Do you have any videos of ideas of how to protect your trees from hot sun and frosts? Cheers

I used just rocks in the cans, the umbrella is just clamped on with some strong clamps.

not sure what Iam doing wrong with my avocado tree... it gets new leaves then 3-4 weeks later the leaves edges start turning brown and the leaves end up falling off ?? any tips that can help?? Thanks kindly

If the leaves are turning brown, it could be a lot of things from the soil it’s in to amounts of water you give it. Hard to tell without knowing that.

Hi, hopefully some one can help with a problem I have with my gem avocado tree , it's in a 15 gallon pot it was doing good for a few months, then it started dropping its leave and would regrow it was nice and bushy now it has very little leaves one of the branches turnd brown so I cut it off i give the tree 1 gallon of reverse osmosis water evey 3 days and it has not improved. Any and all advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

@@TheElsinoreGardener its in direct sunlight im in southern California, and its in the soil it came with when I got it from the nursery, and today is it was 97 this afternoon but its only been that hot the last 2 days .

Do you have avocado trees in containers that have borne fruit? How many years did it take?

Marty B. I have reed and Gem in containers that gave me fruit last year. My Reed this year has 5 left on it and The Gem dropped all but one in the last heat wave we had.

Watering like that is not recommended for potted plants, you want to water the pot fully to get some run of, what you are doing is concentrating all the salts from the fert in the middle of the pot and that is why they are getting burnt up its not the heat alone...

Did I not say that I do give it deep waterings,? I do I was just making the point that in these 110+ temperatures to keep the mulch moist because those delicate white feeder roots are all up in them and need to stay moist. Sorry for any confusion
