He did it for legal reasons. Any child support he pays to the baby mama which is not paid through the court is legally considered a gift. If the baby mama comes back years later and says she never got paid. He gets no credit for monies paid outside of court channels. Also, because of Title IV-D which is nothing more than a state sanctioned Ponzi scheme, the state gets a cut of all monies paid via the court system.

Arkansas need some judges like this. My husbands ex-wife hasn’t payed child support in over 3 years and owes over $20,000 on back child support. Hasn’t seen the children in over 2 years and won’t get a job. She lose her other kids because she wouldn’t do as she was told in drug court. My bonus children have already voiced their opinions on their biological mother without any help. I wish some parents would understand that children are not dumb they see everything and can understand more then they are given Credit for

this is a really good idea because even if you give the custodial parent regular payments, they are considered a gift unless it is court ordered I had a friend who paid 800 a month for years to his baby mama, 200 a week he had all the canceled checks to prove it when she did take him to court but the judge said that was considered a gift and still hit him with thousands of back support

That's crazy that in order to prove that you are taking care of your child, you have to get the courts involved. I think it is ridiculous that monies paid to the custodial parent outside of a court order is a gift and you can be forced to pay back child support when you have been paying child support all along, but you were doing it in your living room so you didn't have to do it in a courtroom. I don't why any parent in Texas would not put them selves on child support from day 1, since there is no credit given for anything done outside of what the court has ordered.

Judge Vonda, I think you should do a case where the parent re-marries and child support changes based upon the new step-parents income. The one house hold income increases to a two household income and I think you should do a case where the step-parent has to pay child support for a child that isn't theirs after they get divorced. In some states, step-parents can be put on child support for a child that isn't theirs after they've gotten divorced.

I paid cs on 2 kids for 18 years. About 10 years in a get a call from AG office saying I was 5 years behind on CS. Since CS was taken out of my chk I asked for them to send the dates I missed. I never recieved them. I went to CS office and got copy of all the CS I paid since 1. Took it to AG office were they told me that they went to a new cpu system and my Info was put in to it. They laughed and said nothing they could because they already gave the money to my EX. By this time it was 6 years after the phone from AG office and the garnishing of my check to 600 a week and only made 690 a week. This was in tarrant county texas. Texas still need to fix these pit falls in CS.
