This is where her experience in the court comes into play As I watched this i saw the same thing I’ve seen in court while waiting for my own case to come up Many of the dads make choices to keep their income low and make claims of poverty but can find the money for fun things. Things like vacations, dates, the bar, gym memberships, new cars. But then claim being broke and can’t pay for the kids. He looks to be in his 40s. He can afford to go out but can’t afford his life or any kids? Something doesn’t add up. It just feels off. But besides that point. He set a status quo. Legally she can ask for that to be maintained and for him to pay for his portion of the kids. Just because she had paid while he was uncooperative doesn’t mean it was comfortable for her either. They didn’t go into it but she may have been struggling as well and needs help so she can house and feed the kid they made. She can’t be on the hook for most of it because he makes poor financial choices. All of that is extraneous to parenting responsibilities.

The problem is they made a deal, he covers day care, she forgoes CS from him. If it was them splitting expenses, CS being part of that, the judge could have adjusted that based on his pay. He is volunteering to pay the higher FIXED amount of day care to not be in child support, VARIABLE. Since he is self employed, this may have been wise, even if he is filing taxes and actually only making that much, having that fixed expense and her having agreed to it, she can't keep coming back month after month saying he makes more, make him pay more and him have all that hassle and a accountant proving he did only make that much. Sometimes its worth paying more to avoid hassle. I agree that 1/2 your pay is too much, but he volunteered that and a court can't order you to un-volunteer and force you to pay less.

Texas law. That's what happened. Texas likes to screw fathers in court. Had he not agreed to that amount she would've only gotten the $355 because otherwise she has to prove that he can afford it. Which she can't given the cost of living. The court would've had no way to do that. But because he was bamboozled by this woman into paying that and has been for a bit that means the courts can say "You're making it work so continue to pay." What gets me is that she had the audacity to make him pay health insurance. She should've said that's too much hardship. Now because he has to pay that he will probably not be able to eat or pay rent. That will lead to him going homeless at which point he will take it to court and claim hardship. Whatever judge he gets will review Judge Vonda's judgment and tell her that she was being biased. You heard what she said. She said she had the DISCRETION to assign higher benefits. That means it's her choice. She didn't have to do that. She did that because he's the father. A lot of judges are in favor of mothers. Usually Judge Vonda is pretty good at being fair towards fathers but maybe she had a case that disturbed her right before. I think this one needs to be reviewed. If I were the father, I'd appeal the decision.

Assuming he's telling the truth about making 24k a year, he's probably a bartender/ waiter... I know somebody who is going through a bit of an ordeal with his "baby-mama" and I thought it would be a good scenario for your show! The guy and girl become friends after meeting at work. She feels bad for him sleeping in his car and offers him a place to stay. A few months later, she becomes pregnant. Quickly realizes he isn't much of a hard worker & sees that he likes living off & taking the credit for other's hard earned work. While living with her family during her pregnancy, he convinces them all that they will all come out ahead in the long run if he doesn't sign the birth certificate when the baby is born. Tells them that they will get Medicaid, nobody will have to reimburse since baby will be considered "fatherless", and in turn he will be able to pay more to the mother's "shopping habits" since he won't have to repaying the government through child support if they don't end up staying together. Baby boy is born, and even carries father's last name & is a "junior". Father never signed birth certificate, nor did he show up for the birth of the child. Time passes & the ordeal of him not showing up at the hospital was hardly spoken on, the 2 finally decide that they aren't meant for each other. He still can't keep a job, starts staying out more often with friends, eventually detaches himself from her household completely. Baby boy is now around 6 years old, dad misses seeing his son, and starts to contact mom to initiate some type of contact with his son that hardly knows him. Mom says that he needs to start helping out financially in some way, because the $20 here and $30 there isn't putting nothing on the table, nor gas in the tank. Mother is now fed up and says if he wants to see his son, that he must "sign the birth certificate" the right way, AKA Paternity Test etc... He gets his feelings hurt and starts to remind baby mama of all they had agreed on and how it would help them out in the long run if he wasn't officially the legal father on paper because now it will only come hurt him worse because they will make him reimburse all expenses as "backpay" and assumes this can all be avoided by leaving everything as is, once again reminding her that could be money for her to go shopping with.. Continues to ask her to allow him to see his son without making anything "legal" while she continues working a full time job, still living with her parents. The father is now a well known"couch-surfer" staying at different houses every night for a little to nothing fee and seems to really enjoy it, looks more like a hobby now. If he does get any type of job, he does his best to find people that will pay him under the table to hide his pay. Now I would like to see this type of scenario played out on your show! Goes pretty far in depth but I think it would be a good one! And couldn't imagine what you would have to say to the dead beat dad for convincing baby mama that he was only doing them a favor by not having him legally "sign the birth certificate"! Thank you!

However, if he doesn’t want to pay for the entire daycare amount, he does not have to.” Instead, she basically said since he proved that he CAN give her this much AND survive that now he HAS to PLUS reimburse for insurance. That makes as much sense as saying he doesn’t need to pay child support because she can afford herself and the kid and extra on top of that. Make this make sense.
