Dorset Police’s Positive Action team attended a Black History Month event on Wednesday 5 October 2022 at the Hilton Hotel in Bournemouth, which was hosted by BCP Council’s Race and Cultural Diversity Staff Network Group.
The theme of the event was ‘Reflecting on the past, daring to dream’ and aimed to inspire young black people to achieve their dreams and showcase the many future opportunities available for young black people.
The Positive Action team were there to promote the very many career opportunities available within Dorset Police and spoke to a number of groups from different organisations, school pupils and individuals from South Africa, Nigeria, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Trinidad, Jamaica and Kenya.
Around 80 people attended at the event. A video from Deputy Chief Constable Sam de Reya was also played to explain why we are proud to support Positive Action within our organisation, increase our diverse workforce and engage with all our diverse communities.
