Supra Mk3 7M Overheat, Corrosion, Blown Head Gasket

My MK3 Supra overheated a couple of weeks ago. And with a suspected blown head gasket, cylinder head was removed to see what's the cause.
From what I can tell, too much corrosion has happened at the cylinder head's coolant ports (exhaust side). Port adjacent to Cylinder #5 is the worst condition and most likely where head gasket failed causing combustion gas to leak into the cooling system.
Cylinder head gasket kit (APEX AHS8025) was purchased from Rockauto.
Toyota OEM head gasket and ARP head stud kit were purchased from Driftmotion.

Good luck with the stock gasket. My experience is MHG is the way to go in terms of reliability. So if the stock HG goes again I recommend you use MHG, as long as head is straight and block deck surface is straight and smooth.

Yeah, I agree that MHG is the way to go and have taken a risk with staying with an oem gasket. My main reason going this route is to minimize downtime for my Supra. I'm currently looking for a good used 7mgte long block or entire engine - which will definitely get decked/machined tp use a MHG.

@@juniortabios6747 when you do that make sure you have ARP bolts it doesnt have to be head studs as long as you dont push the engine that much even tho though. 75lb for head bolts is the safe 80lb is fine also

@@fortheFuninAll Yeah, mine is pretty much stock boost and HP so not pushing the engine at all.
