@artiesaurusrex71707 жыл бұрын
Charizarzar So true and so sickeningly unfair. I also look at it like this: FTMs are more accepted that MTFs because it's more okay to be a man than it is to be a woman.
@artiesaurusrex71707 жыл бұрын
Not saying I believe that, just that it's society's opinion, I think. a woman being a woman is a disgrace, and a "man being a woman" (ugh I hated typing that) is even worse. but if a "woman wants to be a man" (ugh) that's okay because our society values men more than women.

Conor Hollywood // you won't get prescribed T on your first appointment. I don't know if you're going somewhere to get referred to the gender clinic, or its your first appointment there, but there's a few sets of appointments before they let you have that. Though sometimes it is better to transition slower and not go on hormones straight away, this bring due to how it was put 'mentally transition ' to allow you to get use to it. Changing immediately can cause you harm, whether you know that or not. Though when they prescribe you T, of course feel free to start straight away. Though you may have to pick what's best for your mental health.

Acne advice: When I was doing T injections I used Curology - it's a monthly subscription, but it's tailored to you & it's really great. I went from horrific acne to a pimple or two. However! I haven't been using it recently because I switched to gel (I use Fortesta), which is 100% more annoying because you have to slap it on daily, but I don't have a ton of acne on my face anymore & I'm way more level in terms of mood. It DOES tend to be more expensive, though, so discuss & make sure your insurance or whatever will cover it.

I'm a trans guy using gel testosterone since I have extreme needle phobia. During my first puberty, I never really had that much acne. there was some, but it wasn't bad at all. now during my second puberty, I've had maybe ten pimples in almost eight months. I don't know if gel vs shots has anything to do with it, but I recommended gel anyway. you do have to apply it daily, but I think you're right about the T levels being more... level. less ups and downs. plus you're not stabbing yourself every two weeks or whatever so that's always a plus. as far as whether gel is as effective as shots, I'm only about eight months on T and I have new and darkening hair EVERYWHERE. A lot of guys I know on shots were at the one year mark and had almost nothing. I know it's different from guy to guy, and to be fair I was quite hairy already, before starting T, but my results are happening faster than a lot of guys I know that inject. something to think about. You're right about Testosterone and mood. Like you said, Testosterone is a hormone and a new hormone entering your body will influence your mood in different ways, from being sad, moody or really happy until your body gets used to it, just like when boys start puberty. I also found that once starting T I was less able to cry but this is different for everyone.

dude my acne has become really bad from T and simple things I've found really helpful are cutting out milk and only using cleansers/moisturisers etc that specify they are non-comedogenic, as well as eating clean, getting early nights and drinking loads of water. If you'd be interested in taking prescribed meds there's a whole range of oral antibiotics (tetracyclines) that are effective in tackling acne, since yours (from what I can see) seems mild I reckon oral antibiotics would be super helpful. If antibiotics alone don't work you can pair the oral medication with an antibiotic cream/roll on which is also really useful. If none of this works (like me) then you can move onto accutane if your skin continues being bad (Cameron Russo is on this) but this comes with some side effects - hope this was helpful :)
@SamuelMoirSmith8 жыл бұрын
also I have injections too, your levels don't tend to spike too much in comparison to being on gel/patches because your body builds up a background store of T which maintains your levels so I wouldn't worry too much about changing your T intake method because of acne!

Hi Sam! I'm considering taking T and I'm worried about the acne as well. I have always had horrible acne. What I had to do was go to my doctor and get antibiotic pills specifically for acne. The pills help a lot because they work from the inside. Then my doctor gave me a powerful acne gel. I know you wanted advice from transguys but I hope this was somewhat helpful. Also aloe vera plants work well. Use the gel from the raw plants and put it on your face and rinse it off after 10-15 minutes. It helps me with redness and it draws the pimples to the surface. Of course, everyone's experience is different but I hope this was somewhat helpful! Good luck and keep being inspirational! =D

I'm pretty much in agreement with you about the pros and cons. Even now in my detransition, I'm pretty a-okay with most of my changes from T. I was on it for 6 years before I went off it. I still love my voice being deep, and my ability to grow facial hair. I got good beard growth, and I'm still oddly proud of it. I find it comforting to just have a bit of stubble going on. Even though I don't think of myself as a man or ftm anymore, so I guess I'll just join the bearded ladies' club! As for the other changes I still like, I'm very happy with my clit being bigger, and I feel quite neutral about my body hair being a little extra for a woman. Mostly it annoys me cause it itches, but then I also like how it feels to touch. I don't like showing chest hair in public though, so I tend to shave that for going out. I don't want for people to fixate their eyes on that! But except for that, I don't shave anywhere else on my body, and the hairs don't give me any dysphoria. I'm not a huge fan of my hairline either. It receeded back further than yours, but thankfully I didn't go bald. I don't bother hiding it or anything though, it is what it is. I wish I could have kept the body shape I had while on T, actually. Cause I was a nice hour-glass shape on T but off it my butt is morphing back to disproportionately gigantuous again and I'd rather it didn't! But other than that I'm happy to be off T and back on my natural estrogen again. My emotions feel like my own again, and my body feels like my own too. I smell better, I love how soft my skin has become again although it doesn't go well with shaving my face (extra ouch), but I don't wish to reverse any of the permanent changes I got. So despite detransitioning and seeing myself as a woman now, I don't regret having been on T. I love both my male traits and my female traits. Cause it's my body and I love it.

Acne is caused by high levels of testosterone and in women's cases, progesterone. And when you eat things like dairy, red meat, sugar, and processed foods that most likely have added hormones and artificial additives, it spikes the hormone levels even more. The reason topical products don't often work to get rid of acne is because the acne is most likely being caused from within the body, and not by 'bacteria' on the skin. I had very bad acne in high school and used a bunch of products, and took anti biotics which do not work. I eventually changed my diet and now I don't even use products because in reality, we don't need them to have good skin. (:

I've been wondering for a while, I know that T makes your voice lower and that's absolutely wonderful. I would love to be on T with that as the main reason but does it affect your singing voice? What I mean by that is when your voice gets lower if you sing would you be off key even if you practice? If you were a good singer not on T would you become a terrible singer on T or the other way around? I'm fairly new to researching this topic so if anyone could help awnser my stupid questions it would be greatly appreciated.
@fozziebean6 жыл бұрын
It won't make you a terrible singer, but your voice will crack sometimes and you'll need to put in more effort to sing, and to learn to sing lower. Cis boys who sing have a hard time going through puberty, and trans guys have a hard time with their singing voices while transitioning, but you can definitely still be a singer. You just need to learn to adapt and forgive yourself for getting a tiny bit worse as you adapt to your changing voice.

One question. How can shark week not appearing each month be healthy on the body? Is it just as a result of T levels being more so than E levels? So things halt naturally?
@benjamin16126 жыл бұрын
Loved this video! So interesting how Sam observes psychological changes as his t-levels have increased over the years, like less emotional sensitivity and higher libido. Seems like pretty good evidence there are biological and physiological differences between men and women because we have different hormones, and once you become a man, you will experience those changes. The parts of the trans community that have always frustrated me are the parts that act like there are no differences between men and women, but there are... that's WHY there exists the process of transitioning to begin with... I like to hear trans experiences of how the change really affects them because it's a real human experience, not gender studies professors telling us theory about how the sexes are identical.

Please stop associating grumpiness with periods. This makes all people believe that every woman is grumpy when she is on her period. This is neither true, nor 'as you said' scientifically possible. I'm sick of random guys yelling to me 'woah you must be on you period..' whenever I act irritated or start an argument over something I stand for.
@alittledeath95668 жыл бұрын
Sanne-Nadieh van Beers chill. If some guys believe so is bc they're ignorant. But some females DO feel a little moody. Not necessarily grumpiness, no one said that. It's your hormones and it is normal. You could be happier or sadder, whatever.
@sannevanbeers8 жыл бұрын
My point is that the grumpiness is not associated with hormones, thus also not periods. I never said woman are not grumpy whilst also on their period. I just said that it is likely not BECAUSE of their period, or hormones, but some other reason, since the grumpiness is scientifically not related to hormones. And please, don't tell me to 'chill' when i'm trying to speak my mind. I'm not being uncalm, i'm non-aggressively speaking my mind so there is no need to tell me to calm down.

Sanne-Nadieh van Beers periods cause mood swings tho....
@cordsmith45308 жыл бұрын
Sanne-Nadieh van Hormones do affect your mood. For every human being. A female menstruating is releasing more hormones thus creating mood changes. Not that hormones can get crazy only on your period, but your hormone levels while menstruating are not the same as when you're not. Common symptoms from unbalanced hormones is mood changes. It's biology, not every person will be affected the same way but no need to get offended by it. 😀

In regards to ammenorrhea (end of periods), I do agree it is a blessing for many FTMs. That being said, this is why T cannot be discontinued abruptly without a doctor's notice, as T dosages are adjusted in a way that is healthy for your body, and a sudden end to it can affect your health.
