I mean, absolutely you should never assume, but she must be aware that her style and manner come across as slight androgynous or gender non-binary. If you dress and act in androgynous manner I think it's probably unreasonable to get upset if some people are confused by this, especially if the person you are trying to talk to is just attempting to be open and accepting... I just think it's unrealistic to expect everyone to get things right all the time, but if they are treating you well this is what matters the most. ♡ I can see how it may be upsetting to have your femininity questioned.. but I also feel like it likely wasn't meant to detract from her femininity. Rather they were likely trying to cater to all aspects of her personality.

Just look at the most popular lesbian subreddits, they all openly shame and ban Terfs. Anecdotally, I'm a 23 yr old trans lesbian and when I first started transitioning I had really bad imposter syndrome. I didn't pass at the time and was really afraid of making anyone uncomfortable by entering lesbian spaces/conversations. The several cis lesbians that I've met over the past 3 years not only accepted me with open arms but did everything they could to make me feel welcome and even helped me get through my earlier stages of transition. I wouldn't have nearly as much confidence as I do now if it wasn't for all my amazing cisters

But, that being said, there is a lot of overlap with gender identity and being butch. There's trans butches, nonbinary. I'm a butch woman myself, but I can say there is a lot of shared experiences I've found with trans people. Not everything obviously, but certain aspects. So that being said, as much as there unfortunately are, gender nonconformity as a whole has its history entrenched within lesbian history, so you'll find a lot of us who get it as well.

Many intersex people struggle with infertility, or have one set of organs that works better than the other. Of course it’s very personal and different for everybody, though. I can’t speak to it much because my partner and I have both decided we don’t want kids 🙂

You know what REALLY pisses me off. The fact that back in my 20's I had to literally tell an 18 year old gay man to not come out because he would get his arse beaten and he would be mocked and avoided from then on and this was only in the early 90's, not that long ago. It broke my heart, but it was for his safety. Now she gets to be out and PROUD, shouting it from the roof tops because of the change in society over many years. All of those older men and woman ended up getting divorces because they could finally come out of a very dark closet. And pressuring people into fitting into a mold and looking a "certain way" and needing to be "passable" is very toxic. Thank you for talking about how you aren’t necessarily proud of being trans-i feel like there’s so much pressure to be happy about the fact that you’re trans, and being trans isnt a bad thing, but i wouldn’t say its an inherently good thing either. I’m not proud of being trans, i’m not ashamed of it either, i just am trans and i’m existing. I think its awesome that other people express their transness more openly and are proud of it, but i’ve never really felt that way.

I am pretty openly trans but I wouldn't say that I feel a lot of pride about being trans either. I like myself and I'm confident about myself and my transness but being trans is not an accomplishment so I feel like pride is not the right word for what I'm feeling... I'd say I feel content with it. I do feel a lot of pride around confidently being myself despite societal expectations and discrimination. That is an achievement! But being trans in itself is just kinda neutral.
