I've been feeling the same way as you kyle. Learned to weld in college but haven't done it since (over 10 years) and i recently built my own crossover pipe and exhaust for my own turbo LS build. It started out pretty shit but got so much better as i kept building. It's running now and I couldn't be happier.

If you use Star flux on the inside of each joint you don't have to backpurge. A little pricey, but so is argon and the time required for setting up a back purge. Looking good! I really like you using a dial indicator stand as a handrest when tigging. That's an awesome tip!

Cant wait to see it going again! Definitely getting better at the welding game! For TIG, no gap is pretty nice because the heat control is better. But MIG likes to pull gaps tighter, and if it is already touching then it likes to bend in or sometimes even bend outward. Which is a real pain to fix haha.
@stephendunzelman93175 жыл бұрын
Try preheating the whole piece in the oven for a can hour or 2. Leave the oven on while you weld and put the part back in the oven after welding. Then turn the oven off and leave the part in it for a more controlled, longer cool down period.
@joep12535 жыл бұрын
For real, your welding is legit. This video is the perfect example of why I started watching your channel. Throw in a couple of fuckbois, a Kent clip, some more clips of Virginia and it’s perfect. Seriously keep up the good work

In the future, when you are done welding on turbo housing, diff housing, cast manifold, etc, have your oven pre-heated. I usually start at 400 but that's just my guess, someone here prob knows the temp to start at better but anyways, back the oven down 25 degrees every half hour till get to 150, let part sit at 150 for an hour then turn off the oven and just let sit in the oven overnight. The next morning "most times" it's not cracked.
@Boostedlifestyle5 жыл бұрын
That’s a longgg as time to heat holy?
