Great recommendation! Here's my review: after watching this review and others, I bought these on sale for $250 (open box) about 3 months ago. I have been in love ever since. Not only are they super light, comfy, and well-made, but the Luans have a very carefully, well-tuned sound signature. You can tell someone was trying to achieve something very specific with these and I think they nailed it. They are wide, crystal clear, detailed, airy, and yet have a welcome amount of mid-bass warmth and decent enough bass for things like kick drums and bass guitar to be impactful. That said, don't expect murder bass here. Vocals (especially female), acoustic, electronic music, classical, jazz, rock -- these things sound good in every genre I've tried. Imaging is *good* (not amazing) but they are wonderfully wide which helps with instrument separation. They aren't quite as wide as my AKG K702s (which are insane), but they're pretty close. And, despite having great treble, they are SMOOTH. There's nothing that hurts, ever, unless you come across a truly horribly recorded track. As Zeos points out, they seem to really like tube amps, which smooths them out even more and improves the staging. That said, I only have a cheap desktop hybrid tube amp to test with, but plan to upgrade soon. I can't wait to see how these respond. Also, they're very easy to drive so low gain on any decent amp should be more than enough. I run them balanced but haven't been able to hear a difference in sound quality vs single-ended. One more thing: it's true that you can't swap the pads for 3rd party vendors but you can easily buy replacement light brown or black pads from Sivga. They're only $20 too, at least as of posting this. I bought two extra pairs because that's how long I plan to have these. Their build (all metal and wood) is made to last, so I figured I'd get the pads while I can. If you are looking for something a smidge more fun than totally neutral, smooth and wide, and unbeatable comfort, the Luans are for you. I feel like they don't get enough press for how good of a value they are.

Another great review. At this price point, I would think the Harmonicdyne Zeus may be a good comparison. I didn't particularly care for the Zeus as is but may be someone else counter to the Luan

If you get the chance to review the ThieAudio Ghost headphones, they might be a better tonal balance; while also being really easy to drive pair of dynamic headphones. They are comfortable, but probably not as good as the Luan - and they are less than half the cost. The Ghost headphones are plastic earcups, but are fairly sturdy; and very lightweight. I use them all day in the office, and they only get better if you cut out the foam/fabric panel in the pads.
@PassionforSound Жыл бұрын
I've got them here now and will be reviewing them soonish (I have another headphone that's jumped the queue on them). They're an ok headphone for the price and definitely more neutral than the Luan, but I'd prefer the Luan for the build quality and comfort.
@NeilBlanchard Жыл бұрын
@@PassionforSound Judging from your review, that's what I would have expected. The Ghost has virtually no pivot front to back. So it's sound quality vs price, in the end.

Happy to hear good views about the Verum One. They seem to be drowning in bad publicity for reasons unrelated to the product and indeed they are meaningfully more engaging a listen than the Sundara which I would consider more technical by almost every measure, but a bit clinical in comparison. I got a pair of Verum's recently and they are available with an 8-week delivery time and I hope they sell well so we'll get a Verum Two someday.

@@chefsteve8381 I'm not sure how thr design, build or sound quality of the headphone relates to dumb stuff a Ukrainian man has said online. I wonder which area of the FR would be different if he hadn't. It's also ultra white to over react to what people of categorically more backwards countries say and think (to an extent) when it's the majority opinion and often even part of their education there. The stuff tought in Russian/Ukrainian etc elementary schools still in the 2000's is wilder than anything anyone worth knowing about has been cancelled for in the recent decade. He seems sorry and the majority of the bad things he had said from what I've seen are milder than every taxi driver I've come across in Montenegro for example. I can see that he is and/or has been a dumbfuck, but I don't believe there's is any really significant malice there. Might be I haven't seen everything, but I was given a list of links about what he's said and none of it surprised me or made me unable to read past them a bit.

I have the Verum1 mkII, 5 months in, they are stunning. i don't care if a keyboard warrior got butt-hurt over issues not related to the product. I had to wait about 4-5 months for mine, but well worth the wait. I wish they came with extra rings though, to make pad swapping a complete dream. BTW get yourself some Superlux HD681 pads; they are cheap, but the sound - oh la la ✌🎧👍

How is the sound leakage to the outside? Is it bad or is it reasonable like the sivga phoenix?

If the choice is not Sivga Luan, then what do you recommend for hours of music listening at home in roughly the same price range? The midrange is important to me.

I would have gotten the Verum 1 but the things I heard especially about blacks turned me off from going for anything from Igor, I just hope those rumours or stories were, sometimes people be wrongly judge if you heard the two sides, but the rac i sm part made me not want the verum one, and the lack bass and noy enough treble the HD 650 and 600 kept me looking around. and this Luan or whatever the name is seems interesting especially is has something better than the Verum one and HD 6 series. And above all that it can be driven easily, sounds like a winner for me. Thank you for the video. or is there something out there like what it seems am looking for other than this headphones here. I really like these extra cool looking design, I dislike traditional looking thing esp gears. So this is good, but is there somehing with good mids, like the Hd 600, with enough low end and mayb not so looking like just another headphone. i know there is the Audeze M something for mxing, but I think the price and few thing threw off from going for that, so anything out there good fox mixing ie enough mid and enough bass too but all as natural as can be, and easy to drive....no matter whether open back or closed. please let me know

Just wondering if you have ever tried solid-state and then tube? Some headphones really open up on tubes but can be harsh on solid-state. I have made my LCD 2c a nearly closed back and they are very realistic, nearly to a fault with solid-state but with tube they are relaxing and more resolving.
@PassionforSound Жыл бұрын
I generally don't enjoy chaining products together because it reduces overall sound quality. My preference is to have a tube amp and a solid state amp and then use whichever suits my needs/mood/headphones

@@PassionforSound, I forgive you this time, Lachlan. ;) Actually, "Arya" is pronounced "ARE-YA" or "R-YA", which ought to roll easily off the tongue of an Aussie. Regarding "Ananda", the FIRST "A" is long, but very few non-Indians ever pronounce that word correctly. As you may know, the names of these headphones are all SANSKRIT terms that are also encompassed in modern languages of North-West India. I'm actually Aryan myself, and am a student of both Sanskrit and Hindi.
