Feeding videos of geckos are nice. Care and breeding videos are Great! But when you can get actual video and photos of the rare geckos we keep showing them in their natural habitat, well, that is GOLDEN!!!
A huge thank you to Austin Krueger of the Madison Are Herp Society for sharing these wonderful images of this amazing gecko, Coleonyx variegatus, in the wild. This is what it is all about!
Breeders occasionally offer videos on the care, the setup, the feeding, and occasionally the breeding of rare geckos like Coleonyx variegatus but how often do we actually see them wandering around their homes in nature?

Another resource for pics of anything throughout the world in the wild is Inaturalist. Thanks for posting your vids on this family of gecko. As an leopard gecko enthusiast these closely related natives are growing on me.

That’s awesome seeing them in the wild and what they could be feeding on. I’m planning a trip to Africa to film Savannah monitors in the wild. Their on of my favorite monitor species and since I started breeding them I’ve always wanted to see their natural habitat and observe them in the wild. And Africa is full of amazing species I can’t wait to see in the wild definitely a trip of a lifetime.

This is so cool to see! Especially because there isn't much content for them or other Eublepharis species like leopard geckos. I've been researching and planning out a leopard gecko bioactive set up for months and this includes a soil and sand mixture substrate! From this kind of footage and videos on KZbin like Connor long's set up, it's really interesting to see how "rocky" these arid environments can be. Definitely considering adding some sort of gravel eventually, and I also have larger natural slate pieces as "feeding" areas. And I honestly think from this video that the natural "clutter" makes it more interesting!

Thank you for the wonderful comments. Yes, the more info we have available, the better choices we can make for our animals in captivity. And thank you for pointing me to Connor Long. Will be watching his videos in the coming days :)

Some of our desert(s) are similar to Eublepharis habitat(s) in Punjab where over 80% of the pet trade's leos are from. In their range herpetologist Muhammad Sharif Khan states they can be found up to 8,200ft in elevation. Like our deserts there is significant variety of habitats from sea level to mountains. The same can be said for our little banded geckos being found up to 5000ft in their range.

I’m so sorry to bother but I have a question. My son works at a movie industry warehouse in Los Angeles ca and there is nothing but abandoned warehouses all around, getting to the point, he found a baby gecko on the floor and picked it up. Can you please help identify it. I told him it is a western gecko.
