Mary Wilson is a gracious lady. She speaks with such warmth and sincerity. She is a soulful individual and I just love her. Yes, she is a beautiful woman and her inner beauty rivals her physical appearance. I too loved the soulful singing voice of Florence Ballard, she held her own in any group. She was treated so unfairly.

If you're referring to miss Ross you'd better be a white man and in possession of a fairly strong stomach for a startling revelation when the make up gets scraped off at night. Prepare yourself for the unveiling. Cause at the stroke of midnight, your fairy tale bliss becomes the nightmare on Elm street when your precious Princess Diana turns into a wildebeest-looking, bug eyed ufo. Or the creature from the black lagoon. Didn't you hear all about her husband's death? Apparently he jumped off a mountaintop to escape the nightmares. It seems that after over a decade of married bliss, one night at bedtime, Ms Ross decided to finally come clean and present to him the ugly truth of the thing that lurked in plain sight. Be careful what you wish for. You might get eaten alive, but not in the way you had planned it with all the candles and wine and roses and such. You'll quickly drop the champagne bottle to the floor and do a mad sprint throughout the house in search of some fresh garlic, mirrors, spotlights and a wooden stake

Up the ladder to the roof, is one of my all time favourite songs. I loved Stone Love and Automatically sunshine. Supremes were great with Diana but they were just as great without her. Would like to add that the record companies ripped off all of their artists, that is why Prince fought so hard to get out of his contract with Warner Brothers. Like he said, he wrote Purple Rain but it was WB that owned it and made most of the money. That aint fair

Mary says she didn't sing on "Love Child" because she insisted on taking a vacation. She probably wasn't going to sing on it anyway. After Florence left, Berry Gordy used the Andantes on "In & Out Of Love," "Forever Came Today," etc. Mary and Cindy were just used as window dressing from late '67 onwards.
@malcolmmarshall5946
@malcolmmarshall5946 3 жыл бұрын
@@bluezodiac6329 Yes that's true. Even with the original trio, the Andantes were brought in to fatten up the sound. In fact, the I. Hear A Symphony lp released in early 1966 has the Andantes very prominently featued, especially the show tunes on side one, recorded by a solo Diana in LA, not Detroit.

She was so bitter for years because they couldn't sing any lead songs and Diana is the Breakout Star. Motown stopped Diana from leaving the Supremes and made her stay in the Group for another 2yrs so I don't know what Mary was talking about here. I'm so Glad she finally Calmed the heck down in 2006 and has spoken highly of Diana and their days as the Supremes. They've even reunited on stage and at a few events over the years. So that's good.

Good interview , BUT Mary has cashed in on being bitter and jealous of Diana . I happened to be at the Concert at The Forum and sat not far from Mary and the entire night was magical and we were told it was being recorded for TV. Miss Ross was doing her "Reach Out And touch" segment and I witnessed the most disrespectful things I've ever seen when Diana came down to let people sing with her and she graciously said " MARY! one of the Supremes Sing with me" Mary in her horrible red spandex unitard and red fur jacket took the mic and sang for a few seconds and wouldn't give the mic back. Stage hands and security had to get the mic from her. Meanwhile being the class act and true showwoman she is was handed another mic and continued without a hitch.

@Spanky Applegate cause with the exception of Rhonda, her kids only date and marry whites So in the next generation or so, Ms Ross will have fulfilled her "legacy". I'm sure she's a treasure to some blacks such as yourself....but she's soon to be a treasure CHEST to whites. So glad you brought that up about Diana's Black wealth...correctly called: Diana's white wealth.

I stand to be corrected as I was absolutely wrong. I mean who am I to make note of the irony in crossing over color barriers with the Supremes in the turbulently racially divided 60s, that Ross and her kids apparently are so blinded by whiteness that they can't see the beauty of the blackness surrounding them. I mean I really had no right to assume that only azz-kizzing fans would have the ignorance to categorize Ms Ross as a role model to blacks, when it's more than obvious that the bulk of that fortune will soon be inherited into the hands of an ALL WHITE FAMILY. You're absolutely right, people have the right to marry whomever they want. I have absolutely zero basis for accusing these black rich and famous people of being cursed or brainwashed with this one particular part of our inherited slave mentality that afflicts many black people to this very day. No I shouldn't have said those horrible things about Ms Ross. And besides, I should just get a life and not be so concerned about all the wonderful "generational" wealth that some lucky all-white family will be soon enjoying, while they drive around in their Rolly poly Royces and other vehicles without EVER having a single thought of being pulled over by a racist cop (since they'll be white themselves). I really am silly to try and make issue of the fact that a non-black family will be enjoying Ross's black wealth, without ever having a single personal experience of what it can very often be like to live as a black person in a white dominated world. And besides, whats wrong with that anyway? Ms Ross and her kids should feel free to marry any white person on this entire planet if they want too. That's absolutely none of my business. They want to feel superior too. What's wrong with that. And how ABSOLUTELY STUPID for me to actually think that a lot of black men only date or only marry whites because they see white women as a status symbol: as something "better" than a black woman. It's just foolishness on my part. But I'm so glad you kinda brought me back to reality. I should just shut up and let Uncle Toms be Uncle Toms (and I need to stop calling them that, because they're not). Just let them live their lives peacefully BEING Uncle Toms (oops there I go again) and without the headache of having to be labelled as such. So it's really just time for me to just get a life and stop being so ridiculous (and probably jealous on the cool) in saying such untrue things about this WONDERFUL and FABULOUSLY wealthy "Black" American family. I'm ashamed of myself, I really am. I suddenly feel like a disgrace to the black race as well as to myself. Ms Diana Ross. She's truly a treasure....in more ways than one.

@Spanky Applegate what does ANYTHING have to do with how much she's worth? That's my question to you, as you're the one who brought it up to use as some kind of defense for her. Then you deleted the comment 😁

@Spanky Applegate Goodbye Spanky. I think we're all done here. You'll never ever be able to debate against the truth. You can't win. It's usually gonna be a losing argument. Good try though Spanky. A for effort though

Diana was the most beautiful. She got all the men in her feet. I would say that they were famous mostly thanks to Diana Ross

No. Mary was definitely the beauty of the group, although Diana had a lot of charisma. Flo was considered to have the best figure and sense of humor. Diana grew into her beauty through the years but in the beginning she definitely wasn’t considered beautiful.

Mary was truly the beauty of the group. Florence was pretty, curvaceous and very comical. Diana had plenty of showmanship but was not very attractive in the early days.

So she came on this show just to say bad things about Diana! For my understanding Diana was not the one who made the decision to be a lead singer but the management. If Mary did not agree with the decision why she did not leave?? I’m not impressed by her at all! 🙄

That's the main issue Dianna was the lead and Mary had an issue with it. Management made the decision be mad at Barry, not Dianna Ross.

The main point of this whole thing is Mary SHOULDN'T have anything bad to say about Diane. But Ross was a dirty jealous rotten piece of work. So unfortunately, Mary most definitely has bad things to say about Dirty Diane. What nice things would you possibly have to say about someone who's done you so dirty?

I'm sorry I really can't listen to this. Putting all the blame on others. History proved that it was Diana always working harder. Mrs, Powell stated it and so did Cholly Atkins. Mary needed a vacation? Well more than likely so did Diana. But Mary didn't mind about a new record and left.

Diana had to work harder because she was given all the leads. And very often she had to be constantly coached in the studio on how to sing the songs; songs that were already tailored to fit around her limited vocal ability.

Sometimes you got to take a moment to gather yourself or you'll collapse. A good leader allows its team to rejuvenate so they can be best at their work. Especially after a lot of turmoil. She sad she had been speaking weeks training Cindy etc.
