The bad part about wrestling back then was that there were people who actually thought it was real . When you admitted to anyone that you liked wrestling you were immediately querried by " You DO know its fake , right ?" As if you were an idiot . Of course I knew it was performance art .Just like I know John Wayne wasn't a gun fighter and Clint Eastwood and Charles Bronson werent vigilante cops but I still watched and enjoyed them . Liking wrestling was no different . Now days I am not sure that is true ...

Chavo was a star . He worked both the California lucha and Texas style . He even worked well with the Japanese too . He should have been considered a threat to the Heavyweight World Champion . He was just big enough for it to be plausible . 215lbs is near heavyweight ( 226 lbs )

Regarding the referee, Lou Thesz, his wrestling style wouldn't be well-received by today's wrestling fans. Thesz's matches were more mat-based. You won't see a single aerial, acrobatic maneuver executed in many of Thesz's matches, but the fans of his day actually enjoyed watching his wrestling style. Today's fans, however, would get bored very easily as they won't have the patience to see a real wrestling match.

The younger crowd should watch Chicago Film Archives/Russ and Sylvia Davis Wrestling collection to appreciate what real wrestling was.

Now this is wrasslin! They should require all new wrestlers to watch all available footage of Gino as an example of 'what a heel should be'. Chavo, they called Dean Malenko "The Man of a Thousand Holds" but i swear Chavo must of had at least a-thousand-and-one! It seemed like he had an endless repertoire of moves and would continually surprise you with something 'you hadn't seen before!' I don't recall if i ever saw anyone who could move as well in the ring, maybe Ricky Morton and a few others(not counting the Luchadores bcuz they tend to overdo the acrobatics and end up looking more like a circus act than realistic wrestling) TNA had some light-heavy-weights who could really move, guys like A.J. Styles, The Fallen Angel, The Motor City Machine Guns, and others (But i haven't watched wrestling since probably 2010) You knew you were in for an exciting match when you saw Chavo on the apron, and you paid close attention to the match to see if he'd utilize a new maneuver you hadn't seen before! Great stuff!! (P.S. awesome that Gino had to stomp down a fan on his way to the ring, it doesn't get any realer (or old school) than that!! (:

C. mao when did they Chavo that I don't remember that he wrestle here in San Antonio Texas for years for Tully's Blanchard dad Joe he's tag team partner was Al Madrid they would show wrestling every weekend and there was wrestling every weekend at the junction other wrestlers that performed here we're wahoo Abdullah the butcher Tully Eddie Mansfield the sheephearders bruser Brody Gary Hart kabooke dusty killer Tim Brooke's Jose later who trained Shawn mikeals Manny vialobos whose brother was inducted into the Texas high school Hall of Fame dick Murdock Bobby Jagger's brick House Brown who justed passed away Stan hassen the list goes on n on Chavo brother's would also wrestled here n a few times his dad would wrestle here but I never heard of Chavo n milenko in the same sentence but I only no what I saw here in Texas and I'm not saying I no everything about all the wrestlers.

the date is wrong. On 7-30-82, Chavo Guerrero was wrestling in Japan for All Japan Pro Wrestling in a match challenging Atsushi Onita for the NWA International Junior Heavyweight Championship. He was not even champion on this date. He had lost the title to Onita in March 1982 and would not win the belt back until May 1983.

Three fall championship matches were purportedly started as a means of evading fluke wins in championship matches . Would not want an undeserving champ , right ? ( Really it was just about crowd psychology ) That being said there needed to be more draws and more 2 straight falls for the appearance of legitimacy . It can't always be decided in the third fall if its real , right ? Thats my only beef with it . This was a good match but it was a formulaic match too .
