Great review Jack! This is truly the most enjoyable amp I’ve ever played. I’ve owned a lot! Including the Fender Blues Junior tweed, and an original 1964 Supro 16T (great tone but no real volume to speak of). The BJ is a great amp with more clean headroom than the Delta King, but it does not even come close to the same versatility of tone. In my opinion this amp really doesn’t have any bad tones in it. The overdrive circuit sounds incredibly good, especially with the guitar’s volume rolled off for rhythm and rolled up for leads. The boost is incredibly usable as well. Every pickup combination I put into it sounds like you would’ve imagined they were meant to sound back in the day. This is just an insanely good sounding amp and I enjoy everything about it. I don’t regret selling my blues junior because this is far more authentic and usable in my opinion. Are you going to get loads and loads of clean headroom? No! That’s not what this amp is designed for. It does have a decent amount of headroom though. On another note, I’m a huge pedal user and this thing takes pedals like a champ. I have absolutely no regrets and I bought it sight unseen off of Reverb. FYI that I also have three other amps that I use that are all incredible in their own right, including a $2000 hand-wired model, but for sure enjoyment and playability, I love this amp the most!

I have the Delta King 12 and love it. I think you did a very good job showing the different tones you can get from the amp. It is definitely loud. I have the Bugera power attenuator hooked up to it and it is great for being able to get cranked tones at bedroom appropriate volume. It also cleans up great just by rolling off the guitar volume knob to 8. The speaker is not hard wired so it is very easy to connect a power attenuator.

My clean will be my hot rod deluxe which is barely on 3 while plugged into input number one. I could see the Supro adding to my tone big time. It’s using a 6L6 is a plus since I have plenty of them in my stash for the hot rod. Great review Jack.

Isolated drums are such a lovely thing in this world. I used to play a weekly gig where the drummer was surrounded by a clear fiberglass partition - best sound control ever. It was amazing.
Good review. I recently acquired this amp & I love the "Supro" tone. However, the drive switch adds ridiculous amounts of gain AND volume no matter how the volume or master are set. Maybe I'm doing something wrong , but this makes it unusable in any live setting if you were to use the foot switch for the drive for a solo or something.

They are kinda different amps all together ! This Supro is classic American class A tweed/Princeton reverb that has the pedal built into the amp to turn Marshall gain no problems ! The all I'm one solution for living room bar room classic rock and blues even jazz amp ! The Vox on the other is going to need a couple pedals to gain the same ground the Supro Delta King 12 it's covering ! The Vox is also class A but with very British tubes and known for "jangle" which I honestly don't hear in Vox amps on their own but I guess it's what that are known for !? Maybe check out sound samples on KZbin and such of the Vox to compare and then listen to Supro Delta King 12 videos !

I have the 10. Love it with a strat, the boost and drive sound nice. p90s I don’t like at all and I only like humbuckers without the drive switch. Pre all the up gives a decent dirt. I have a Crate Palomino 16 (US made) that is FAR more versatile than this Supro. Huge amounts of clean headroom and very graceful breakup as you nudge the gain upwards. None of that woolly over saturation like the Supro. And while my Palomino has a Boost button, it’s a useful addition at the power amp and gives you more volume without a ton of extra gain. I think a lot of these tube combos coming out in recent years have been voiced really aggressively and likely towards the tastes of kids wanting tons of distortion. IMHO, a mark of a great tube amp is the amount of usable clean headroom, along with good note definition. The gain push with a boost or overdrive pedal can be applied to any front end to achieve the menu of crunch and distortions, but why voice these amps as one-trick ponies? I get the “Delta Blues” deal but “versatile” this amp is not…..just my opinion. But it’s sexy to look at, I concede.

Practice amp is best description of this amp. Tube amp is least accurate description of this amp. The sweet clean to breakup tone is lost when turning this up. Which is it's best feature! So for a practice amp I would expect $299 to be it's target price. $699 would be a gig-able amp. It's great at lower volume which a real tube amp just doesn't give you because they are lout! So great practice amp but pricey. I guess that is why these are not flying off the shelves. This amp is not LOUD not compared to any tube amp I've ever had before. Not capable to do band setting unless you're playing in a soft Jazz band. Some serious misinformation in the Overview here! This amp's loud ends where my Blues Deluxe Reissue starts.
