That Sahara one with the fuzz on it sounded seriously Smashing Pumpkins to my ears. Some good sounds from these. Also like the use of alternative materials.

Fantastic guitars. The originals had full acousti-glass bodies, which was a trade word for fibreglass. Supro was a brand originally owned by National, and was one of the multiple brand names along with Airline used to sell these guitars through catalogues and department stores. I'm fortunate enough to own an original 1964 Airline JB Hutto/Jetsons model as used by Jack White, along with a current Supro Coronado. These Acousti-glass reissues while not being constructed in exactly the same way, are incredibly faithfully both visually and tonally. Hope that the fact these guitars are on such a high discount doesn't mean the end of the road for them, they're absolutely amazing things. I'm extremely tempted to buy another....
@acarlovonsexron19946 жыл бұрын
Going by the comment section, it seems guitar players are conservative as ever. Odd since these guitars designs are as old as any Strat, or Flying V. I'm sure if John Mayer played one they'd be cool.

Put a Bigsby trem and a p-90 in these and see what kind of sound you get then. I like the retro look.
@philgervais43466 жыл бұрын
You'd love the Supro trem. Zero effort and smooth as a baby's bottom. That wood bridge rocks back and forth, keeping the trem in tune. The Martinique's got a stacked piezo (no battery needed) under the bridge and even more knobs. Love it.

@SocksworthRiffs2 жыл бұрын
@@TwinCitiesOxygen I think it stays in tune quite well! Sustain isn't bad, but not exactly the best. I typically dont notice this because I play my fuzzy garage rock style riffs, and fuzz = LONG sustain. Aside from that, I havent had issues intonating since it stays in E/Eb most of the time and personally havent found issues with it. still have it 3 years later and I play it often!

Some others have mentioned Airline guitars, which is where that odd control layout with the volume and tone knobs by their corresponding pickups comes from. Also, I think the reason it reminded Lee of Tom Petty is that it sounds a lot like the intro to You Wreck Me.

Manged to get the last sunburst triple pickup Hampton from one of your competitors in Epsom who also had the 50% Supro deal, mine has a flame maple top and case for £499. Looks incredible, seriously surprised by the build quality, feels solid and the best feeling knobs and 5 way switch ever (my custom shop strat feels flimsy in comparison), really nice finish looks like the finish on a kotzen tele. Plays well and good setup and it sounds incredible! Have ordered a sahara as well from you guys, that big blue body with white headstock looks amazing! Really impressed. Thanks Supro!

I did not know there was a Supro Sahara shaped hole in my life until I saw this video. I can’t decide if that guitar belongs in a band playing Cuban music in Miami in 1962, or if it belongs in an old Disney Tomorrowland video from the 50’s calling it “the guitar of THE FUTURE!!”
@wgb010016 жыл бұрын
I played one of these at a guitar shop and liked it. It was the model with the 3 gold foil pups. Loved the sound of the gold foils and it felt/played well under my fingers. Two problems, though. One, it felt a little cheap. Like they skimmed out on the hardware and details. The bridge felt flimsy. I worry about it holding up over the years. Two, I hate the shape of the headstock. At a lower price point, though, it’s a nice guitar.

Hi, I see you plugging in and out guitars all the time on the Andertons channel. Why don't you use the Neutrik Silent plugs for this? As soon you pull out the plug it disconnects, so no signal is running through the plug when unplugged. No pops or any need to put the amp on standby.

You guys should consider adding the voice of a guitar tech who understands how these guitars are constructed. A "sales engineer". The back of that guitar is how you'll get at the electronics, it's not going to fall apart;-)

Acoustiglass?? As far as I know that's a sound deadening decorating material. The original Supro guitars were made of two glass fibre shells clamped by four screws around a wood centre block and described as Reso-glass. The early guitars from the new Supro company had, I believe, solid mahogany (well mahogany like) bodies and their Island series still uses solid wood bodies. The Supro web site describes the Sahara as having a mahogany 'chambered' back, presumably a back with open cavities routed in it, topped by a 'resonant moulded top'. I suppose the top may be glass fibre. Although Supro claim the Americana Series guitars are replicas of the Supro “reso-glass” instruments, they still aren't building them quite like the old ones.
