I know, if it were mine, I'd consider rebuilding the speaker...

Cool replacement job! Any reason to keep the old Jensen? Can it be refurbed?
@FrankOlsonTwins5 жыл бұрын
Thanks! You could have the speaker reconed. Reconing the speaker might get you closer to the original sound of the old amp/speaker combo since the magnet structure is exactly the same. It also helps keep the amp more original. I always recommend keeping the original parts in case you ever sell the amp. The new owner may appreciate it. It's usually the same price to have a speaker reconed as replaced, though.

Hi, how are you? I have a doubt. I hope and can you help me. I'm from the city of Mexico and I have a sound and I would like to say that connection is more convenient for me in stereo or monoral since I have the powers QSC 5050 with a B&C speaker of 1200 rms and I want to do. they sound hard. I hope you can advise me

¡Hola!

@FrankOlsonTwins4 жыл бұрын
Si está usando entradas paralelas, use una señal estéreo. Si usa una salida en puente, use solo una señal mono en el canal uno. el uso de altavoces en paralelo está bien siempre que la clasificación de ohmios sea correcta.

Is the TB15 similar to the Legend 1518?
@FrankOlsonTwins Жыл бұрын
To be honest, I'm not sure how similar or different they'll sound to each other. However, the TB15 is a 75watt speaker, the Legend is a 150 watt speaker. It's a good bet the legend will be quite a bit heavier than the TB15. It would be a noticeable difference when you're carrying the amp around, for what ever that's worth.

I see paper capacitors, which tells me this amp has not seen a proper recap. I also see a two wire cord. This amplifier could be an electrocution waiting to happen. I would not use it unless you are on a poorly grounded surface....wood floors and etc. never on concrete or bare foot. Also please note that the nuts on speaker studs should be tightened with a nut driver to avoid scratching the paint. Everyone should be aware that vintage amplifiers with two wire cords are dangerous. This is even more true if they lack a power transformer. This is due to several factors including the "death capacitor" which can short to the chassis, putting 120 volts on the metal parts of the guitar plugged into the amp. Please use extreme caution with vintage amps until they are properly modernized, as electrical safety was not up to par in the mid 20th century.

100% agree. If this were my amp, it wouldn't get turned on until proper grounding/wiring mods were in place. No amount of vintage authenticity is worth your life!
