Had the pleasure of meeting this guy (Jackson) while visiting Luna. This guy is a total genius and highly respected mechanical engineer. Great overview Jackson in explaining the details of this bike which I also found to be top quality. I rode this particular motorcycle and it surpassed my expectations in every way. I took it on the beach paths and had a ball. Can’t wait to see some of Luna value adds they produce for the Sur-Ron! Great job Luna!

Thanks,... this answered most of the questions I had. Keep the video's comming on the results of that bigger sprocket!

thanks for the great review. I got to ride one today, ripped it around some great mountain trails. I'm impressed with the overall performance. I absolutely agree that the throttle response is sluggish, and I would also consider swapping out for a larger rear sprocket to increase torque/decrease top end speed. Please tell me a lot more about this "ASI Controller" that you used to improve throttle response. overall great bike, I think i'm about to buy one

I've had mine for a week and it is great. I'm 6'3" and 250 lbs and have seen 43 mph. I added two additional LED light for night off-road riding and a front fender. I'm very picky and have been impressed with the quality. Next on my list is Luna's scooter.

I love the bike, but it seems tiny for most americans. I dont know why they didnt make it bigger to fit adults.

Hey chris, how is the range/ ride time while you are on trails and also when on pavement?

Loving this bike and giving some serious thought to picking one up from you guys. What is the modded package and is there options for a steal skid replacement, opposed to the aluminum? I’ve got a ranch in West Texas with lots of pebbles, boulders and everything in between. Not sure the stock skid will be strong enough.

This gentleman deserves a fine woman and a free sur Ron from the company as I contend he's probably sold at least 20 from this video. Also you know hes a real mechanic and rider because of his knuckles. Someone buy him a beer ASAP. My biggest complaint about this bike is the dorky name!

I've been nerding put on this bike for a while I want one but my state requires a title for an off road sticker. How does that work with the sur ron
@PgTrAxX6 жыл бұрын
Yeah me too! It's an attractive bike but these are considered like an 80cc dirtbike by law. So only private terrain or if you know secluded area's with no people or cops around. Good thing they don't make noise so you are more than likely not annoy any neighbours depending where you ride (just have a healthy dose of thinking).
@polize9116 жыл бұрын
Luna cycle can limit the power with a hardware limit which would make this bike under 750 watts and 20mph and therefore would count as a class 1 scooter. You can also decide to get your bike unregulated and do the hardware modification yoursel. You can then place a placard like this one on your bike. If you do this option please ride your bike responsibly. However the Sur Ron can be hardware limited to make it under 500 watts We can install a hardware limiter to make your bike under 500 watts and road legal in most states.

Great bike. I've had mine now for three months and can really recommend it. I've found one things you should tweak if you ride it off road in forests etc. And that's the bike stand sensor. The cable is actually exposed and a month into riding it I got stuck far away from home cause the stand cable was ripped off. Easy fix - cut it and isolated the three smaller cables inside. Then it rides again and the cable could be hidden under. Easy but important tweak if you don't want to walk 2 hours home...

@652barry6 жыл бұрын
felix thecat regular use about two years max.
@Hunter_Bidens_Crackpipe_5 жыл бұрын
Daily use using it between 90-10% (100% charge is a horrible idea) you will see noticeable decrease in about 2 years. Using it only weekends you will get 4 years. After that it will stay ride-able but won't be the same in range or in power.

Awesome bike and review but please please dude fix your neck/upper back posture. I did the same thing for years with similar body type and it wrecked my neck and t-spine. It's a giant PITA to change but in a few years you'll start to feel it if you don't. A screwed up neck disc is the most hellish thing I've ever felt, I couldn;t sit on a bike anymore and still am very limited on them though it's getting better with PT. There are a few good PTs on YT that have great exercises for it, look up "dowager hump fix" or similar. Thanks for the teardown and stay safe brother!

is there cooling for the battery?
@TheFarfle6 жыл бұрын
Gamex996 They took the approach of not making the heat in the first place. Its a pretty big battery pack, and even with the motor at full tilt, it just is not working very hard.
@Gamex9966 жыл бұрын
my worry is the heat in my country we usually have like 30c(90f) to 45c(110f) degree as if i park it for like 15min under sun how will it will hold?
@TheFarfle6 жыл бұрын
Gamex996 Thats a pretty ugly environment for any passively cooled pack, especially in a black case. These are PF cells, which are fairly robust, but with that amount of ambient temperature you might not have good results.

Its a bicycle without pedals cause that's no "motorcycle". And with out pedals does not class as pedal bike..so you really have something you have to walk or trailer to the off road trails to legally be able to use.

@jessenurse91946 жыл бұрын
John Dennis I hope so
@brycedennis86886 жыл бұрын
Thanks Jesse, you are correct, time will tell if this bike holds up. The reason I'm pretty confident is I have bought china bikes before and usually the quality is lacking. They are just trying to hit a price point and pumping them out. This bike seams to have had a quality plan from day one. The suspension is strong and has bushings, the frame is beefy. The battery is overbuilt, I could go on and on. The tires are pretty cheap but hey, they will get replaced. My son has been riding this bike hard, jumping on our track farther than he does on his KTM150. It is solid. I may be getting another so we don't have to take turns.

@kadewilford6476 жыл бұрын
I think it's due to the import regulations and tariff rules in the UK.
