Hey CJ, I added the setup to the description - Thanks for the idea. Regarding the adjusters. Most all industries count clicks from all the way turned inward (most damping) but the sur-ron has a backward damper on the rear shock and a preload the spins forever so two of the settings are measured from all the way out, rather than the typical all the way in.

@emotobros4 жыл бұрын
I am glad you liked the video! Currently the plan is to wear out the new front tire (video on that is being edited), and then build a new wheel. In all honesty though, the more that I ride the less convinced I am a 21" wheel is necessary, and I would prefer to keep the front end as light as possible. We ride pretty aggressively and have not have any problems with the rims so far. An 18" rear wheel however would be more useful just on the basis of tire selection. That being said, it is very possible that we will do a video on it on at some point, thanks for the input. - Cole

@ow-my-achilles11064 жыл бұрын
Very well done instructional for setting sag. But at 2:50. I will tell you that when you disconnect a high pressure shock/fork pump, the small hiss of air released does NOT come out of the fork!! NO!! When you unscrew the shock pump, it allows the valve in the fork/shock to close completely preserving your measure pressure. As you continue to unscrew the air release is from the high pressure stored inside the pump hose and gauge. Is has nowhere to go except out the hose when you disconnect it. This has been a misconception for decades that the air pressure in the air shock/fork changes when disconnecting the pump, it does not. When you install a shock pump, the seal is made, then the valve stem core is opened by the connector, and air from inside the fork or shock enters the pump, this reading is VERY slightly lower than what it was before connecting. The amount of air inside a shock pump is trivial compared to the volume in a a fork or shock body.
@emotobros4 жыл бұрын
I partially agree with what you’re saying, however the pump does effectively increase the relative volume and therefore decreases the pressure. It’s small but so is the air chamber on a shock. The pressure difference we measured was actually not because we just made an assumption. That difference was what our pump read and then what it actually tested to be with a high precision air gauge. Also, it depends on the functionality of your shock pump. Some, like ours, have a valve shutoff which minimizes air loss. Of course the pressure doesn’t really matter anyway as it’s all about how the bike feels.

I was thinking of getting the Marzocchi Bomber Z1 fork but I am new to this and wondering if you could please tell me if this is the specs I would need: Thanks for any help you can give me: Chassis: 36mm Offset: 44mm Axle: 15x110 (QR) Damping: GRIP (compression+rebound) Spring: FLOAT EVOL AIR Steerer: 1.5 Tapered Aluminum Stanchions: 36 mm Black Anodized
@emotobros4 жыл бұрын
The Bomber Z1 is a single crown fork so it's not quite robust enough for a surron. I'd look at something like the Bomber 58 which is a dual crown fork. You are looking for something with a 1 1/8" straight steerer, for a 27.5" tire and an uncut steerer tube. Also the axle dimensions are 110x20mm and the rake should be between 48-60. We have a video on installing the Fox 40 which is very similar to the Marzocchi that you should check out!
@BrianLampright9134 жыл бұрын
Check out the video I just posted for the correct measurement of the head tube, if buy new it won’t be a problem but finding a used fork with a long enough head tube will be nearly impossible

Got my bike today with DNM Volcanoes and one of the forks has a blue o-ring towards the bottom of the shaft. Is this defective?
@BrianLampright9134 жыл бұрын
The o-ring is used to determine how much suspension travel you are using and is commonly found on forks. The way you use it, is push the o-ring to the top of the fork tube so it touches the upper fork. Sit on your bike and then get off and you'll see that it moved. When you ride you can use this as a guage to how much suspension you are actually using on the trail and change your settings to use more or less suspension. So if it's only moving 3" and you have 8" travel you know that you have your suspension setup way too hard, if you are constantly using all of your travel then you might have it too soft.
@maihhel37213 жыл бұрын
TIP: if your coil shock is too soft and you have to tighten the coil so much that it cant be turned by hand id recommend getting a harder spring because tightening the coil so much that it cant be turned by hand will stress the shock exessively and will shorten the life of the shock
@emotobros3 жыл бұрын
Just out of curiosity, how would tightening the spring stress the shock more than a stiffer spring? Springs are rated on a force per distance basis and by either tightening it or getting a stiffer one you’re effectively creating the same amount of force at rest and deeper into the stroke the shock would be stressed harder with a stiffer spring. With no one on the bike is the only time it’d make much difference and even then, if it can’t handle the stresses at rest it’ll certainly blow up under use. We definitely advocate for getting the proper spring but not because of the stress it applies on the shock.
@maihhel37213 жыл бұрын
@@emotobros alright this is hard to explain as english is not my national language but here we go. When you tighten a spring more and more it will put more stress on the top out of the shock and when you get a stiffer spring you dont have to preload the spring againts the top out of the shock thus reducing the force aplied to the shock when fully extended. I hope you know what i mean
