Once a shining symbol of Highborne society, Suramar never recovered from the trauma of the War of the Ancients. To survive the devastation of the Sundering, the city's inhabitants sealed themselves away from the rest of the world. Isolated for millennia, they had no allies to call upon when the Legion invaded. Now their ancient city, and all of its power, is at the mercy of demons.

Suramar is the best Zone ever made. Change my mind. > Largest City in the game > Ridiculously lively > Many many World Quests to do > Wonderful music > Withered Training (as an inspiration for the Chromie scenario and Visions of N'zoth) > Visual diversity with a fishing village and a fel corrupted Zone, as well as ruins and a forest > One of the longest quest chains in the game > Actual characters > Nighthold, one of the best Raids ever if you ask me > A teleportation network that rewards exploration on your first time playing through the zone > Boats that move around and can be stood on ... This zone just had it all.

It really did. I think Blizz recognized that during its zone design, and therefore, poured a lot of effort into it + made it an endgame zone so that you spent a lot of time there. It's a perfect example of an incredible dream world coming to life in a video game. Both the city and the zone surprise me every time I enter it.

I keep doing world quests here frequently with my main character although I already have every possible reward available from the Nightborne. Love the ambience, how lively the city is and the aesthetics... it's gorgeous. If only they updated Silvermoon to look like that...

My favorite thing to do is use a ground mount while in the city, or walk. And have my camera angle be exactly level with the ground so I can see the splendor of the most beautiful city in the game. Flying in the city never does it for me like being on the ground, and I am a supporter of us being able to fly in game.

If they are making WoW 2 or another Cata like thing, they should redesign and upgrade major cities to modern standard, close to Surumar if possible. Silvermoon is actually quite large but due to the dead scar divide place, it doesn't feel that way. Of the current major cities that match up to Surumar, only Ironforge is comparable to something like Surumar. The ones that need major redesign is Orgrimmar, it felt too big and too small at the same time. Too small because the banks, AH and now they even move the portals to the same area, as well as the Warchief seat in Grommash Hall to the middle. The professions areas and transmorg are right around the corner, which is good, but also means you barely see the rest of the city. Then, it's too large when the path to Azshara is too long and worst of all, uninteresting to look at while going in and out as a new player questing in Azshara. There's also the Cleft of Shadows and the area above it. Various revise of Orgrimmar have made it more convoluted, confusing rather than impressive. Orgrimmar lacked the orderly nature of Stormwind, but also lack interesting niche like the rest of Horde major city. It's a place behind time, and need a shot in the arm.

I had so much fun in Legion. It was the best WoW had been since the good ol' days. A different game from back then, sure, but _good_ different. BFA basically took everything Legion had going for it and smeared shit on it.

Totally. I simply loved the quests in Suramar. The background was solid, you felt the progression after each quest. Even the daily quest meant something (it was a rebellion after all, so every resource was important). Man, I just can't stop talking about how wonderful was Suramar back in the days of Legion. I'm doing all the quest for "Good Suramaritan" and "Insurrection" archievements again. Now, on BfA... Well... You have no progression!! Who's the enemy?? Horde?? Azshara?? N'zoth?? The 'look at me, I'm morally ambiguous' Banshee Queen?? All of the story feels... dumb.

It's almost a testament to how good Legion was that I was praising it while it was current content (with the exception of Tomb of Sargeras, that raid can go fuck itself). Usually the nostalgia doesn't start for a couple years after an expansion passes, but during Legion I missed it while we were in the BfA prepatch.

@@greyleaf Allied races were a cool addition, but they should have just made them full races. They get so few customization options for most races and some of the options you do get for each race really suck (void elf male hair is abysmally bad with few exceptions; and almost all of their faces look like crack addicts even for Blood Elves turned Void). But I do really miss Legion. I had a few complaints, like locking skins behind difficult mage tower boss battles and then removing them post-Legion and how it wasn't very alt-friendly, but most of my thoughts on Legion are quite positive. It's my favorite expansion since MoP thanks to its fantastic questing experience. They stripped away unique class raid sets in BfA and all we got for it was a single armor set per armor type with a few extra frills depending on difficulty. NOT a good trade-off in the slightest. You could tell they wanted to get lazy after Legion and cut corners wherever they could.

Its astonishing to me that the expansions that followed have been as bad as they are after Blizzard nailed it so utterely with Legion, their need to re-invent the wheel over and over instead of building on the systems and design choices they made in Legion are bizzare and really quite sad.

I miss this era so much. WoW never looked better than in Legion, every region was filled to the brim with detail. The lore was amazing and immersive, the gameplay was questionable at the start but the improvements came in fast. There was so much to do and see back then, Shadowlands and BFA could never compare! I really miss our class halls as well, it was fun feeling this connection to your class and learn the history from it. Imo, Legion was WoW's peak.

Yeah, it's so nice, that would be awesome. They do have the starting zone for Nightborne cleared out, but it's only so big. I think the issue is they don't like to make too many major cities, hence why only Stormwind & Org have transmog, etc. They like to condense players to a city so it feels more like a city packed by players than just npc's. However, I'd take Suramar any day over any other city.

Yavor Kirov Silvermoon is actually pretty big as well. I do think they should give it a revamp into a world quest zone next expansion. It’s one of the only zones not touched by Cataclysm, thus stuck in the past. Same with the Exodar.

Surmar was the reason I came to play WoW, I saw it and had to go there, I subbed and made a account, I fell in love with the game the more I played it, the more I learnt, I fell in love with the lore, the locations, the rewards and mounts were only the icing on the cake,, And just the feeling of finally reaching Surmar will always be one of my fondest memories. It's funny because I met my girlfriend in Legion. I always think about the old times when being in Legion zones, especially in Suramar. It was such a good time. I will never forget it. We're together for 4 years now (almost 5), unfortunately I lost fun playing the game, but my girlfriend is still enjoying the game like on the first day. It always brings a smile on my face when I see her enjoying it next to me.

I swear, the first time I walked into Shal'Aran and the music at 6:24 kicked on. It all hit me like a truck with so much melancholy. It felt like this is the end of the world (of Warcraft.) With the legion trying to destroy Azeroth and the fear that this could be the last chance after WoD for Blizzard to make something truly epic and amazing. Boy did they. I live for those types of feelings when discovering a place like that in WoW for the very first time. Although BFA may not be everyone's favorite right now because of how the release went, I have faith that they can still do some amazing stuff with it very soon.

Suramar was one of the best experiences ever in this game. Loved every single second of it. Even when I got destroyed by "AN ILLUSION?! WHAT ARE YOU HIDING!?". I could easily waste so much time just staring at the city and listening to the music. Hope they allow us to acess the city without the agressive NPCs on day. (maybe make it like a time-choice kinda deal, where u can either use the city as a pub or as the classic questing zone

Legion for a lot of people was when WoW officially died. BFA had its decent moments and a cool story, Shadowlands was meh, but Legion was great throughout the entire expansion. I am looking forward to Dragonflight though, I really miss playing WoW.

@Kate It's good. They removed alot of the shit from the game that made Bfa terrible and i'm actually having a good time playing the game now that i'm not forced to grind Azerite power everyday. Also no titanforging/corruption is a huge + for me since corruption made me quit Bfa, i hated that shit, i actually feel excited now when i get a new piece of gear, it's weird.

Hate to say it but same...I really have no wish to buy more game time. Legion was amazing, I miss everything about it, especially Illidan and the whole storyline with him, Sargeras and all. I see nothing exciting or inspiring in BFA and I truly hope they create some interesting content soon :(

Same here, I hate BfA. In Legion the enemy was clear and I could beat him. In BfA the enemy is as faction 50% of the game and will never be beaten of course. Its so frustrating and stupid.

It's funny how I played through this zone two times already and just yesterday realized a big part of why I loved it was this music. I was so busy running around and admiring the beauty of everything. And yesterday I just stopped for a moment and listened. It was instantly clear to me why this zone feels so relaxing to me :D And I'm a little torn between mourning that I couldn't experience this as live content with all its difficulty and being glad I'm able to fly :D

I skipped from mid-Cata to just before Shadowlands. My main leveled through the beginnings of MOP, WOD, and Legion, and I loved Legion so much I did Chromie Time Legion for all of my other toons (about 15). I never went back to finish Cata, MOP, WOD, or BFA, and when I got bored with Shadowlands I returned to Legion to finish every possible achievement and farm mounts. I don't know that I like the class hall specifically, but I loved the class storylines - that made it fresh on every toon. Suramar for me was the icing on the cake, a beautiful city with a lot of secrets.

This zone is the best and it is best explored when there is no flying allowed yet in the Legion. You can enter a lot of buildings in the city and search treasure and the mana thing. The only thing I hate doing world quests in the city is I keep getting dazed by the guards hahaha. Otherwise, beautiful music and ambience.

Suramar was what a modern WoW zone should be measured up to. It wasn't too dense, wasn't too big. It was full of activities, but also empty space for a slower experience. Riding the Gondolas was one of the kind of thing that should show up more often in modern WoW. It's small, nonsensical, meaningless but it is what made the world, the world. The little details are what immersed the player. While I do think the quest line is a bit much on all of the characters, the first time experience was just immensely enjoyable. The recent covenant questline and war campaign of BfA just doesn't have the little nonsense like the mana crystal, wicked training and the variety of world quest. Should also mention the hook and the portal. In my mind, Legion was a massive waste. It's one of the best expansion for years now, but I felt Blizzard was in a rush to finish up the Burning Legion. To me, that's disappointing. The zones were unique and fun, I would love to have Nighthold as mid tier and Tomb as end tier. We ended up spending time on not so inspiring Broken Shore and Argus. I imagine a small extra raid either in Highmountain or Azsuna to supplement Nighthold, just as Trial of Valor was. In which case, we get to spend more time and Blizzard can add more activities to the zones, instead of shoving us onto an entirely separate new zone. I know that they don't do that to not interfere with the levelling, but being pulled away from the good stuffs and doused in green is quite unpleasant. I would be fine not killing Sargeras, or Kil'jaeden, or Argus. Having Kil'jaedan being imprisoned at the end of Legion would have been satisfying enough. In my mind, Legion exhausted Blizzard creative juice. The following expansion and the current one is just uninspiring. Nothing makes me want to wake up early before work and do some chore in game.
