WOW. I would pay a lot of money to hear them and KCC sing together. Bruffy has such a signature sound. truly a leader in choral conducting. STUNNING.

i've been listening to this over and over again since yesterday. i love it....such beauty, it offers a numinous experience for me every time i listen to it. i found an interpretation of the lyrics from the web: Surely, tonight when the stars are shining brightly, There will be peace for my soul, here on earth. The year has gone by quickly, Winter is over, the earth is healed And now the summer is here. Every one else's hearts are whole, they have their loved ones. But I weep, As I wander alone.

I was privileged enough to be there for this specific performance. I felt like I could sprout wings and fly.

i thought the best version of this song was done by the baylor a capella choir. it turns out i was wrong. phoenix chorale's version takes home the cake. beautiful. their singing brought tears to my eyes.

Whoa! I was ll over the U of Utah version of this until I heard this group... now I'm reconsidering! I only wish this were a better recording! I don't know if it's the acoustic of the room or the recording, but there's way to much echo for my tastes.

@Superiorsaver It's probably the camera. They're a Grammy Award-winning choir. They sound 100xs more incredible in person.

In answer to the comments about the missing "sure" from the women--that was just a "live performance glitch" and they missed the first entrance, en masse. Or they were simply mesmerized by our (the men's) opening. :-)

And to answer the comments about recording quality/acoustics/etc., this was in a *very* reverberant church, and the hand-held camera was in the balcony, which adds to the effect. Ideally, you'd want a recording made a lot closer to the singers, but hey, what do you expect for a bootleg? :-) I'm pretty amazed at how good it sounds despite those issues.

@KendallHolsten Feel free to pay us a lot of money! We used to sing together every year in Phoenix and KC, but we can't anymore because of the economy. :(

How come the ladies didn't sing "sure" when they came in? one of Lauridsen's big ideas in this piece is the "sh" sound all throughout it. To leave one out is to disrupt the whole song. Still a wonderful sound but that one change bugs me.
