I can see her career being very similar to Ciara (l think she sings better than Ciara tho) decent vocals, amazing dancer and performer and concepts though.

What I'm noticing is they're too focused on TRYING to seem emotional - like making sure they do a growl or making sure they move their jaw a lot so it sounds like a run even when it's the same note.... they want too much to look like they're doing something hard or technical. Like, they see Mariah Carey waving her hands around the room, or they see Demi squinting and bending over belting so they just do those things like that's what makes a good singer.

Music is all about what you like. I actually just like what makes me feel good at the time. There are many that can sing, but there are some that just have more unique and technical skills than others but all of the ones you mentioned have great enough voices to actually recognize who they are at least. Then, not to mention some of the artist named haven't been out solo that long to develop anything. We, don't know what Normani will sound like on the album yet to decide anything. A lot of artist like Ciara, who is one of my favorites, she didn't start of with a very technical voice and sound and had issues with breathing while singing and dancing live, but was still amazing. Now, look at her she is still in the game and improves vocally and other things as well.

I consider Normani a vocalist and a great singer. She has very good range, can be quite agile and versatile. I think most people look for a 'strong' voice to be considered a vocalist but I've always felt that because she performs so well (Like Bruno Mars / Beyonce) that people undermine the vocals, she also sings in a hipstery/poppy way that undermines what she's capable of.

@@rocksta201012 I don't agree with that at all. I think people have a bias that a voice has to be powerful or soulful to be a vocalist. She's a cut above average singers. I feel she's in between a singer and a vocalist to be fair. She isn't at the top of the pack but to me she's past simple singing and selling vocals. She falls closer to Ariana Grande than say, a Selena Gomez, just my opinion.

yall be throwing the term vocalist loosely around like that......
@Sloppyjoey14 жыл бұрын
@@chikoritaleaf I said what I said. I'll explain myself as a courtesy but, in my opinion and she sings in an advanced way. Especially when it comes to melissma's & range. I personally feel her voice is naturally soft. Folks call Adele & Christina Aguilera vocalists and they're super inconsistent but it seems like people think the term means "loud" & "strong" but I personally just use it for advanced singing. You can watch this clip again if you think Halsey is on Normani's vocal level, imo Halsey's not even close. Normani has 'vocalist' potential and is a cut above a simple singer imo

What bugs me most about people is them saying „X has so much potential...“ Pretty much every human being has the potential to sing or do anything they want. Of course it’s cool to be talented in some way, but by exercising and training you can come quite far and be impressive as well. When a singer has potential when it comes to their vocals, that just means they are just like everyone else and need to train their voice, while there are millions of people out there who don’t just have potential, but are vocalists already so why should we wait for someone to grow as everyone could when there are already people who worked hard to get to their level of skill. It’s not about singing anymore, but about the persons themselves and that’s okay I guess, but we shouldn’t be delusional and try to hype aspects up that aren’t really there or extreme. Example: Normani (because she was mentioned so often) She may have potential when it comes to singing, but Jazmine already SiNgs, Jojo blows you out of the water and Cynthia Erivo gets you pretty much every time. And yes she can dance, but so can the background dancers of most singers or random people in dance offs...
