Redondo Beach Pier Fishing!! How the Locals Do It!!

This week I went to see if the oil spill south of us in Huntington Beach was effecting my hometown pier in Redondo Beach. It was a fun time ill say that much!!

You think eating fish caught there is safe to eat today? I'm planning on hopping on the redondo special today but after i'm going to try the pier with some sabiki's. Pull up if you're in the area broski. Another straight banger vid btw.

Are the rays breading or something its cool getting rays but I feel like is getting nothing cause you can't eat them.

There's no minimum size on bat rays and apparently they taste good to some people. I always throw them back and say get bigger make more because I'm not going to eat it. I haven't heard of anybody eating the round Rays or the skates like I was catching so I totally feel you man. It's nice to bring in a little bit heavier weight than the mackerels though

You know honestly I would say anything that can hold 15 lb line is going to be good. It all boils down to what you end up targeting. You still have any of that gear 15 years ago?

Yes for lobster and crab in cali you need a fishing license either a day or two or the year worth it if you’ll go more than 6x and a lobster card that card you need or you’ll be fined largely , daily limit of 7 per person worth it though

South side. Corner for macs and Bonita. Closer to shore for rays

@@alexpham7178 I think there's some small Bonita still amongst the Mackerel. usually an earlier bite after sunrise but it does very. My good friend Tony is usually in the south corner, knarly nose ring- plenty of gear, if he's there he's the best to ask about when they've been hitting recently. I was there last week at night and didnt see any action other than Thornbacks

Yes but they are rare to see because there aren't many people fishing for them there. When I don't target them there I go to Venice or Huntington Beach Pier

@@danishravi9403 what I can say is fresh mackerel is most likely your best bait. I would go out with a Sabiki and anywhere you're able to catch mackerel toss out ahead or the entire macro on a big setup. If you go to Terra firm a tackle.com you can buy some really effective cheap Sputnik Sinker attachments and some good leaders. That helps not have to worry about tying any of those heavy poundage lines and stuff like that. A good 6 oz sinker I would do a trolley rig there are other names for that but essentially what it is is tossing out your pyramid Sinker with your Sputnik attachment at the end of your main line as far as you can from the pier and then hooking the macro through the head and sliding it down your main line and letting it sit out there with just enough drag tension that the waves don't mess with it but if something takes your bait it starts taking line out. Have a quicker on your real and a hoopnet for gas ready to pull it up.

It will most likely take more than one time going out but almost any Pier is good I would recommend Huntington Venice or Redondo in that order. Side note Redondo Pier is the cheapest to fish at right now
