Surf Fishing the Oregon Coast | High Tide at Lost Creek

Welcome back to Surf Fishing the Oregon Coast! In today's adventure, we head to Lost Creek to fish for surfperch during high tide. I don't normally fish the high tide, so this ended up being as much a learning experience as it was a great summer fishing trip on the Oregon beach.

Have you ever surf perch fishing in the Florence area? If you did, any luck?

I have; just south of Florence out of Dune City. I did well, for small silvers and sculpin. There are, or at least there were when I was last there, a lot of big troughs that all kinds of fish are hanging out in. I tried two colors of the Gulp mole crabs last summer and got exactly nothing on them. your experiences? They were very popular at the jetty though.

about how wave breaks away are you casting where you caught that first fish? New to surf perch. I have gone out 4 times this year and all I have to show for it is 2 sculpin, a small flounder and a small silver. Looking for any advice I can get. Thanks for the video!

I usually give a spot 3 casts. If I don't catch a fish, I'll go down the beach about 150'. When I catch a fish, I'll stick to that spot for about 5 more casts, and if I don't catch anything, I'll move on

I went out to Cape Lookout my first attempt to catch some surf perch and did terrible not one fish... used camo sandworm with high low rig I’m not giving up planning on heading too Gearhart soon 🤞

Keep at it. I caught a 1.3 lb surfperch at the first spot on my first trip, and didn't get another fish for almost 2 years. After a while, it really does get better 🤙

Debating on going with the medium or medium light version of this exact rod you use for surf perch fishing. I was concerned with medium that I wouldn't get that bite sensitivity. You seem to have no concern with that, which is very helpful to know. I appreciate your videos as a fellow Oregon angler!

Oh, there is plenty of bite sensitivity. I don't usually have to keep my finger on the line to feel for bites

Go down to Siletz Bay during low tide. Pick up some sand shrimp with a clam gun or a shrimp gun. Then use one of those on one hook and a sand worm the other.

Best to find a slope you'll find your perch .use a #1 or 2 bait holder hook and a small piece of raw prawn from the grocery store

The trough are the areas between sandbars, so... yes?

@@ZerickOber when you are on the beach look for the slopes ,down hills from beach and cast in between each waves and you will find perch .you dont have to cast way out ,you can get them up close in between the first and second waves basically right at your feet .
