Surface tension Collapsing pressure (P=2T/r) If two alveoli have same surface tension but different size, smaller alveolus empties into the larger one *Perfusion-Ventilation ratio gets disturbed* 28:49 How Surfactant reduces surface tension Surfactant helps in defence as well because Apo-protein A & D are opsonins and it also has igA Surfactant - increases compliance of lungs -prevents pulmonary edema -equalizes ventilation in adjacent alveoli
