LOVE when you discuss shaping theory & the "why's" behind the shapes. This is by far the best channel I've come across. Can't believe you don't have more followers!! 🙏

it looks like the blank already has the thickness and rocker? so all that is needed is to cut the out line and shape the rails?
@JDubHannah Жыл бұрын
Yes sir, blanks are designed with specific rocker profiles and thicknesses. Typically blanks are thicker than the desired dimension and you shape down to the right thickness, but this one was pretty much right where I wanted it. So very easy, just cut the outline and shape your rails and you are good to go🫡 🙌. Also check out my magnum opus of glassing tutorials kzbin.info/www/bejne/rGbQmqmbrqyfnM0

Hey jDub, what do you use to seal the foam before paint/epoxy. Used green lights “spackle/paste” but looking for cheaper alternative with easier access at local hardware store
@JDubHannah2 жыл бұрын
@jonjon’sjohnson I use z seal from foam ez, it’s like $30 for a big bucket that you could do like 20 boards with. But honestly now days I rarely seal epoxy boards and I would say for most cases just skip that step! So with EPS blanks the little beads can easily pull out leaving little holes in the nice flat surfaces of your board, the holes trap excess resin adding weight and can look a little funky. If you sand it nice enough you can eliminate most or all of those little holes and then you don’t need to seal it at all. I’ve used dry wall spackling from Home Depot before, it’s a cheaper easy to access alternative but the color doesn’t match the blank as well, although doesn’t matter if your coloring. Hope this helps!

Do you want the rails to be 90 degrees from the deck, or from the bottom? I just squared mine to the bottom so hope I didn't royally screw up 😬
@JDubHannah Жыл бұрын
Hey no worries man, should be square from top and bottom, but….. since bottom is nice and flat and not domed like the deck, I always square from the bottom primarily, and then go back and double check from the deck🙌. Feel free to reach out with questions, hope this helps Chris!
