I have the fishbeard and it handles. I rode it a double overhead left point in Nicaragua and it was still solid. But I could see how on some days in the bigger/more hollow stuff having a pin would be nice.

Great review, you really did show how free flowing the FishBeard was. The V bottom on the Twin pin was reminiscent of the original MR twin.(which I bought from Ray in 1976 or 77 or 78 when ever he started selling them 😂)

Epic review as always Noel! I see you also use a tailpad of the FB. Does your tailpad have a kicker and do you place it as far back as possible or over the fin box? and also would you say its better to get the FB at the upper end of your volume range for an intermediate surfer? i weigh the same as you but i'm 6'0

Yes my pad has a kicker and I customized my pad to get it all the way back on the Leash Plug. Cut the pad a little is how i customize it. Yes size up roughly 1 liter.

Great review once again. Congrats, Noel and Aaron! Got my FB recently and i'm really impressed by the speed and hold of it. But i'm still figuring out the fins. I felt the AM Keels were good, but a bit too stiff at times - being a lighter/smaller guy (5'5_145 lb) Tried the Macahdo Seaside front quads and worked, but slided too much. Between your Keel and HP Twin set, which would you recommend for the FB (FCS2) in shoulder-head high? thanks a lot!! keep those great reviews coming, guys. cheers.

I recommend our Hp Keels for maximum drive, hold, pivot and release. My HP Twins are faster rail to rail, quicker into the lip with excellent pivot. The HP Twins are incredible for pocket surfing with solid hood and drive. www.shopsurfnshow.com/collections/fins

Hey Noel, Love your work with these comparison style vids! Quick question for you- I’m looking to buy a Fishbeard but stuck between sizes. I normally ride between a 38-40L in most of my boards, with my current daily board being a 6’3 38L CI Sampler Should I go for a 6’2 at 37.5L or the 6’4 at 41L? I’m 6’2, 210lbs, intermediate who surfs 2-4 times a week in beach break conditions on the east coast of Aus. I plan to use it as my daily driver in 2’-6’ surf. Any input would be great, I’m stoked to get a Fishbeard!

Hey Noel! Thoughts on the Fishbeard vs RNF 96 for a mid-intermediate surfer? Looks like I'd be on a 5'3" RNF or a 5'6" Fishbeard. Looking for something versatile to travel with. I like to laydown carves mainly. Wondering if that extra 3" on the Fishbeard will add to increased stability for me. Cheers.

It depends on what size waves you are buying the Twin Pin for. For me the Twin Pin is more of a good wave Twin and I would go go up roughly 1L in volume as my HPSB due to the Vee bottom and the rails being engaged through turns. I like the Twin Pin in 3-8’ surf.

@@mitchell_w If you are a heavily front footed surfer then my HP Twins might not have enough hold for you. The twin pin would go better with small stand-up fins like Futures Pivots or FCII Reactors. I took out my back fin on my thruster & it's suddenly twice as fast & so loose it's hard to control, but lots of fun. If I put in two stiffer normal fins it would hold better. I'll put in my JJs which have more rake and see. Or you can just throw in a stabiliser at the back. That's it see. You don't need a new board, just take out your back thruster fin.
