People laugh at me when I crank the reel a couple times to move the chunk after it sits for a big, I tell em I'm putting a new presentation on the plate. THAT SHIT WORKS. when u know the fish is there and u didn't get a bite for 15 minutes move it a couple feet.

Nice video! I always end up back on the clams or the bunker . Throwing lures gets thin (and personally) never caught anything big on a plug. My best was to a bunker chunk and a live eel.

I use bunker chunks in nyc and catch monsters every time I go out. Never had that experience with lures. I tell my friends all the time that I’d rather trek an extra hour to buy cooler full of bunker than to show up earlier with a lure. I’ll catch more fish every time :). Cheers!

@nycyabber71034 жыл бұрын
DarkbyDesign Canarsie pier is great fishing most of the time. When I can’t get out there I walk up the path from the belt parkway and cast anywhere I think is decent. If you pick belt parkway you’ll usually see guys clumped up and that’ll mean fish is there. Those dudes fish to eat so they know the area pretty well. If you fish by them they won’t say anything but it never hurts to offer them your fish if you catch a legal :)

Excellent tips for us Bait Hurlers. It would nice to find out the reel, rod & braid size? Bill did mention the 100# mono leader. But I didn't pickup any other tackle details. Looks like some kind of live liner reel, obviously. Penn Fierce II Live Liners are now available as an affordable live liner choice; 6000 & up models for medium to heavier option. Pair it up with a 9' - 11' Lami. or Tsunami with 30+lb. braid, 3 way swivel, 2-4 oz weight. And you'll have a decent or setup. Plus save a few bucks for those pogies! Tight lines in Fall '15 for all you surf-dogs out there! Cheers...I've got to sign up to get these past episodes.

I was striper surf fishing of a beach in Maine with baitrunner. I used clam and squid on circle hooks. I was getting big bites but could not catch anything. When that reel was on ( the second light drag.....aka the baitrunner)...for a second or three...they would spit it out the minute I reeled or yanked the rod. Rod is a 10-11 foot Tsunami. Reel is a Shimano baitrunner 4500. I dont know what I was doing wrong but it just didn't work...lost allot of fish...also a very big one...that I had on rod fighting for 1 minute then lost it. Is it the knot on the hook or the size of hook ( #3/0 to 4/0? The rod? Can you please help me....or explain what im doing wrong.🙏? I love to fish with baitrunner for allot of species...i just want it to work for stripers. Thanks

the reel is a Shimano bait caster.( probably a 6000 ) The lever on the bottom back flip-up puts it in bait mode, it has a very light drag to it(adjustable knob on the bottom). so the fish has time to run with the bait without feeling any drag.

do they take line like tropical fish?
@TralfazConstruction7 жыл бұрын
Typically, no, in my experience. If they turn parallel to the beach and run with any kind of beach current then perhaps. It's not fun to cross lines with others working their own bass toward the beach. 95 out 100 times a bass making a 'run for the border' (even straight out to sea) is unusual.

Sorry for the dumb question, but why do fishermen put heavy tape on their fingers?
@marcuslee58168 жыл бұрын
Actually it's because of the weight of the bait and tackle. Before he casts he's holding onto the line with his index finger. But he's using really heavy bait and tackle which will be dragging on that line. If it slips it'll cut his finger.
@greenebee8 жыл бұрын
So the braided line doesn't slice your finger. You can either use duct tape or buy a finger shield made of kevlar.

***** I have a couple storm sinker molds. We fish Hatteras. Most commonly used sinker there is a pyramid. My buddies believe the pyramid holds better. I personally don't think there's much difference. When I provide them for free they don't care. Mr. Fischer is using a standard drum rig ( fish finder). I do like his idea of using the swivel on the sinker. Never noticed anyone doing that in NC.
