That was a big fat bass there Tim nice one! Kudos on the squidding with the squidder. If you fill to the brim your line pickup will increase significantly. The old guys like to use 30lb mono or thick dacron for squidding just because it is thicker and your spool fills faster on retrieve, diameter on spool increases significantly and thus follows your pickup. Thanks Jerry! I noticed those Kastking 50lb line are almost like thin dacron! My problem at night was the line lay but like you mentioned 145 and 140 with wider spools are more forgiving. I think I will need to wear some finger protections on my line hand next time braided line cut through wet skin like a knife to the butter lol

Oh yea they will cut ya up use it a bit more youll get some nice callus and be good to go but the protector or surgical tape helps. Either case great job out there!

I use star rod 9 ft surf casting rod for this reel. I've used 10ft tsunami rod with this reel as well works fine.
