Surfer killed in Hawaii shark attack amid rip current warning in East Coast

Professional surfer and longtime lifeguard Tamayo Perry, 49, was killed Sunday in a shark attack in Hawaii. This comes as beachgoers looking to stay cool on the East Coast are being warned to be on high alert for dangerous rip currents after a number of drownings in recent days. was 8 years old by myself caught in a rip tide pushing me out into the ocean. i did not know how to swim either. god was with me to realize instead of going against the rip tide to instead walk to the side of it until the rip tide was past me. could have died as my cry for help was too far away for anyone to hear me.

I got caught in one of the same about 40+ years ago for some reason I went the way you did and my staying calm this is riding along the way you did I survived it but I was too far away from anybody I would’ve died if I done it any differently. That story is so tragic. Three friends booked an airbnb. As soon as they got in the room. They raced each other to the beach. Then drowned!

Why do people go in the water when there aren't lifeguards on duty? It doesn't make sense....the ocean is a dangerous place to go without someone else around. As soon as you go in just understand that you are the lowest thing on the food chain right there with krill. İt's very unfortunate that these people lost their lives, but, hopefully before you get in the water, you know about the dangers and how to avoid them. RIP

Just to clear up a common misconception, most shark attacks on humans are due to the shark biting out of curiosity to see if it's something they want to eat. They take a bite on a surfer or diver to see if they like the taste, and most sharks don't actually like the taste of humans that much. If the shark had actually eaten this guy they wouldn't have found his body would they?
