Great Film! I had just finished the First Successful Surf trip to Patagonia in Argentina in 2006 and tried to organize a Trip to the Falklands myself but since we would be coming from Argentina it became impossible. So glad you all made it! I remember talking to English soldiers in the Falklands on the phone trying to find out as much information about possible Surf.

Outstanding doco. Some of these waves were surfed by a group of RAF guys in the mid to late 90's who at the time also thought they were surfing virgin waves :-)

I read shackleton's book in 1971 and it's the most fantastic journey against impossible odds for just survival. I never imagined surfing there that area or the such a fantastic human story about exploration and the things you mentioned about the human spirit that that story would be connected to surfing somehow purely fantastic

So I think this is an awesome story. I love surf adventure stories. I want SURFER journalists to pick up a couple of journalist skills. For example, while this movie features interesting commentary on the human condition, where are we informed about water temp, air temp, wind direction and speed, reef structure and other dangers, gear used, daylight length, offshore storms, wave frequency, time of day, etc. I get it. It starts to resemble work when you have to get real about gathering information. But hey throughout both the article and this movie we're left with the real possibility that these dudes are surfing in 50F air and 60F water and they're just wussies from tropical climes. Also, when you've got both footage and pics of them poring over maps, why not capture some of the jargon. What were they pointing out? Maybe storm location, air pressure, wind speeds, distance the swell must travel. All that stuff is more important to me than the dudes drinking beers or somebody's opinion on what isolation means to the individual psyche. Just saying. Otherwise, keep up the good work.
@benhulme74016 жыл бұрын
Couldn't agree more. More storytelling and information on local culture, history and geography. Bruce Brown is still compelling viewing. Staged shots of people pouring over maps or pointing out of shot at a wave are more interesting with context and story
