This kid lost his parents instantly and still had to recover from a brain injury without them. My mother had a stroke that paralyzed the entire right side of her body. The mental therapy, the physical therapy, the waiting. None of it was easy, he's a very strong young man indeed

This literally brought me to tears after seeing this whole video. I'm VERY proud of Ian. I know that he was scared of going back into the ocean to surf, but then Ricochet came into his life and brought back his courage to surf with her.

Both of them are so sweet! Animals help so much! A horse encouraged me to get rid of my cane and walk independently by walking her without my cane and hanging onto her. Now I walk all by myself and it’s quite exciting. Hopefully Ian will get there one day! Dogs are truly amazing.

as someone who also went through a traumatic experience as a kid (not nearly the same experience, im simply just trying to state that lots of things go on everyday and lots of kids actually go through a hard time, not take away from ian’s experience) but having a dog (not a service dog, but just a pet) but that companion can help so much when someone is going through a hard time. i did the math and ian is only like a year younger/right around the same age as me! i wish him the best because while i know our experiences are no where near the same but i just hope he’s feeling as good as he can and that he gets through all this!
