when surfing near a reef how do you avoid stepping on/falling onto coral? always wondered this. would be nervous to be in shallow water with lots of stuff I don't want to step on

The body of water forming the wave can cushion you along with surface tension. You also tend to keep yourself horizontal if you can. This bottom is pretty benign (cunjevoi), and the wave is pretty small. Shallow corral and lava rock however are a different story and you can get opened up pretty easily. Generally experienced surfers only will take on large hollow waves with a shallow reef bottom, sooner or later it will get you though. It's a risk reward sort of thing.

What that person said^ best thing to do when you fall is the “pancake” method. Obviously you want to protect your head too but if you fall in shallow water you want to do a big pancake/starfish so you don’t shoot deep into the water

Hi Noz. Big fan. So recently my brothers and I started a KZbin channel and we sometimes do POV’s and I’ve heard you mention in the past that you had shaky footage. I’ve recently started having that problem on my hero 7 and what to find out how you fixed it, thanks. Keep shredding

He mate thank you for the support! Yes I’ve had that problem several times… even in the hero 10 I believe (but mainly my hero 8) I’d just turn it off and on and that seemed to work for me. Otherwise can try resetting it or taking the battery out and putting back in 🤙🏽

I’m not sure I have yet! But I had this board called a DFR (Dane F**king Reynolds) by Channel Islands when I was like 14 and that board was nuts ⚡️ best wave on it would’ve been in Hawaii at a place called Hanalei Bay. Double overhead and probably did like 8-10 turns

Yep they work! Not sure you can shoot 4K 60fps in Superview though. So just drop it down to 2.7k 60fps on the Hero 8. There’s barely a difference between 2.7 and 4k

Hey Noah I just want to ask what is the difference between 1 fin, 2 fins, 3 fins , and 4 fins. Also what do they do, that is the two questions I want to know.

Hey! There’s probably a really good video on this somewhere or an article online. Basically a single fin (1 fin) is gonna be the stiffest and you only really see these on big old school boards, mid lengths and longboards. A twin fin (2 fins) is really loose and great for carving. You’ll normally see this on a fish (type of surfboard). A thruster (3 fins) is the standard one you’ll see on 80-90% of surfboards. It’s the most versatile with drive, hold & release. Mainly used on shortboards and performance boards. Then quads (4 fins) are inbetween a thruster & a twin fin. So it’s stiffer than a twin, but looser than a thruster. This one is mainly personal preference, and suits different styles of surfing. Kelly slater loves riding them in barrels and won some world titles on them. Filipe Toledo (current world champ) has used them to win events & the final 5 at trestles to win his first world title. But then you’ll see stylish/alternative surfers riding them too. I only really ride thrusters because I ride shortboards. But this is something that’s mainly personal preference and to suit the style of surfing you enjoy doing 🤙🏽

Such a secret spot you can’t park there anymore and there is a coffee van permanently on site. My favourite break as a grom and the closest I’ve come to meeting my maker getting pounded on the reef and going over the falls for round two. I think the cunji you see on the reef is the reason you don’t get cut to pieces there, it makes for a softer landing.
