I bought mine back in March of this year. I love it and agree with your pros and cons. Surfprep customer service is amazing. A few days ago it stopped working in the middle of a sand. Was not getting any power at all. I tried different outlets and still nothing. I was so upset thinking how I had saved for months to purchase this sander. Decided to troubleshoot on their website and couldn't find anything related to my issue. A chat box came up and I chatted with Wendy. She immediately called me and we tried a recalibration that did not work and we both came to the conclusion it just died. Just my luck. Less than 5 months old and it dies, I wanted to cry thinking the warranty was probably 90 days. Thankfully it is 1 year. Madison, in repairs, called me the next day and made arrangements to have it shipped free of charge for repairs or replacement. Hopefully no one else will have this problem but just know Surfprep customer service is there to help anyway they can.

Bummer about your sander dying, but I'm so happy Wendy and Maddie were able to help you! Thanks for your patience with this...I know they will get the problem solved for you!

Thank you so much for this review. I was hoping to find an honest pro/con review from someone I'd been following. I was tickled to see that you ladies did one. I have been dreaming of this, but now that I see your review, I can put that dream aside. For the price alone with your details of what it works best for, I know it's not the best for my restoring hobby. Thank you!

You are so welcome! We are glad it was helpful. It is a great little sander and we use ours on most of our projects but it is an investment that may not be necessary for everyone..

@@secondchanceohana It really was, very helpful. Now I won't feel bad buying another tool for the woodshop that we'll use more often.

Thank you so much for this really honest review. I had never seen that you had to hold the throttle piece down so that was really helpful.
@secondchanceohana2 жыл бұрын
Glad it was helpful, Rina! We think a lot of people may like the throttle but we would prefer an on/off switch to reduce hand fatigue. (Sometimes, we sand for hours...)
@Crystal-be9ze Жыл бұрын
Wait so you have to hold down the top lever the whole time you’re sanding? There isn’t an on off switch? That’s an annoying drawback, that just prevented me from buying one. Think about people with arthritis @surfprep
@secondchanceohana Жыл бұрын
Yes, we agree. It is easy to push down but it is does cause hand fatigue after a while. We still use it all the time but in our opinions it would be even better if it was an on/off switch

Great job. I have had mine for about a year. As you have said, its just another tool in your arsenal for sanding.
@secondchanceohana2 жыл бұрын
Hi Dar! Absolutely! We use it all the time and it has helped to decrease some of the hand sanding so we are thankful to have it, For sure!

I'm thinking you could form a horseshoe shaped "clip" from sheet metal that you could use to hold that button down. Just slide it on and off.

Great video ladies thanks for including both pros and cons. I do enjoy my surf prep but honestly I prefer my orbital.
@secondchanceohana2 жыл бұрын
Hi Melanie! Yes, the orbital gets the large flat areas done quicker (and use it the most) but we really love the SurfPrep as our detail sander.

From a guy that runs a cabinet shop and has had two bad bearings in two different machines in 4 months, I'd say do not waste your hard earned money on the surfprep. The uneeda copy is even worse. I'm also open to ideas on a better quality machine if anyone wants to chime in.

Great honest review, gals! I'm saving up for some pro tools to add to the kit and this sander (plus dust extractor) is one of them. Super timely review, thanks for this!

Hi Debra. Yes, one of our favorite features is that the 3 x 4 electric ray is so much lighter than our other sanders! It really helps with arm and shoulder fatigue on those vertical surfaces!💖💖💖

We have the Electric Ray 3" x 4" Sander that is vacuum compatible (it connects to our Festool Dust extractor). It comes with a ton of different sand papers and sanding foam pads.😍

Cool flips but I’m very confused by your channels name. Did you move to Arizona from Hawaii? Or is Hawaii where you’re based now? Are you of Polynesian heritage? Or are you using “Aloha” and “Ohana” as a brand label for your channel? I wasnt able to find any kind of channel introduction that may have addressed my questions
@secondchanceohana2 жыл бұрын
Hi Angelina, thanks for asking. We lived in Maui for several years and moved to AZ to be closer to our parents and to adopt our children (adoption is easier in AZ). We are not of Polynesian descent but love and respect the Hawaiian culture. Ohana is very important to us and our business is all about our family and our community/support group including other furniture flippers/refinishers. We used to have a short little intro included in every video for a few months but got feedback that it was too long ... we should put it on our home page. How about you? Are you from Hawaii?
