A boy doesn't really need a purpose for a sharp stick. A sharp stick is a purpose unto itself! In seeing the title I really wondered which of the kids got hooked. I'm glad it wasn't one of them, but I can't say I'm pleased it was one of the adults! Still it was a necessary testament of the journey that I'm glad you shared because I now get to applaud just how well the fam handled it. Zero panic, no screaming, and everyone playing a vital role. The look of concern on Chong's face combined with is wanting to be close for support was precious.

Calm seas, a bow & arrow on the to-do list. Good thing you can communicate with those passing hulks. Dolphins are back! A stunning jasper sunset (6:39 - 6:50). The aroma of muffins and cookies wades through the hulls. But then those rotten long fishing lines... lead to calamity. Hard to watch. Impressive how everyone jumps in to help, remarkably poised. "Well done, Dr. Mom." (17:56)- well said. The young Fothergills step up to check on the boat. Kris thankfully on the mend.

Like most folks commenting, I was impressed with the amazing team work displayed by all of you. Yes the hook in your hand, would have been painful enough, but the calmness and coolness displayed by the other 5 family members and yes 4 of them are younger children, who just got it together, quickly and calmly to cut Dad's hand open and remove the hook. I replayed the vlog to my wife, the next day, she was squeemish towards the blood / injury, but I made her watch it (a few times) so she understood the depth of how the team, including Dr Mum, in the whole process. Eventually, my wife got it, what I wanted her to see and understand, the great team work. Even the child who brought Dad a cool drink of water. You then commented on being so far from the destination, with another switched on child, going to the helm, getting the engines moving, so you guys could keep moving. Like me, my wife was so very impressed as to the great team work demonstrated. Glad your hand is on the mend and healing well. So I guess, the great team work, had a big hand in that, no pun intended. Then later on, the children did their part again, to check under the hull and props for any damange(s). Mate, you and Dr Mum have done and still doing a fabulous job of instilling into your children, great values and understanding of all things for life, to be better people as they grow. PATS ON THE BACK of one and all. Take care and continue with the way you are doing things.

Hey guys, had my share of treble hooks in myself( including in the back of my neck from a very large popper, complements of a mate. Snapped 80 lb braid off in process).best advice I can give is replace all trebles with single hooks, even just one single. Fish like mahi-mahi go berserk, and trebles are an accident waiting to happen. Good job by family👍

Wow. Mom is amazing as always but Bella again proving she’s an awesome 1st Mate to the Captain. Pippin is the cutest Jr. Nurse w Dr. Mom :) The way all the kids rallied for that emergency is a testament to great parenting. Often in emergencies if the adults keep calm and under control the kids will mirror it. As a Security Manager for the last 10 years with a focus on Critical Incident Response I’m impressed. Its also amazing what you can find and learn on KZbin these days. Can’t wait for the next episode.

Ohh also, training. Train the kiddos for emergencies ahead of time. Fire on board, abandon ship, medical emergencies, ship flooding. The more they train the more sense of calm they’ll have.

Just watched your video, with the hook in the hand ouch. A couple of things, do you have surgical glue( similar to super glue)in your first aid kit probably need a script for it, can be used as a alternative to sterile strip's. Have seen that before, although thru a finger, and the cut the barbed end off with a small pair of bolt cutters and pushed the straight bit thru. My toes were curled up all that time. Tough man the skipper .
@sailingwithsix2 жыл бұрын
We have a little bit of glue but I was told it’s best used for clean strait cuts otherwise infection can get trapped underneath. We also learned after the fact that there are better ways to remove the hook… let’s hope we don’t have to do it again ☺️
@barrycashman70012 жыл бұрын
@@sailingwithsix correct with description of the cut, as when I cut myself with a box knife and went to the Emergency Department the doctor did exactly that, saying because it was not jagged he glued it, and said to be very careful not getting it wet, or immobilise it for a period of a couple of days. Perfect fix after two weeks. You can also purchase sterile butterfly strip's that are ok to use, similar to having it medically sutured.

Hello everybody glad to see you and is healing when I seen what was about to happen I was crying on the inside for you I felt your pain we were fishing out in the country years ago when I was about 12 at a river with some dried clams kids catfish at night and I had four hooks on my big fishing pole and the last hook on the line got me between the ear and my head and it stuck right in the skin I thought it would rip it through but it didn't but I cringed when I seen what happened to your hand I already know that feeling. Maybe out there on the water it might be better to have something with a clamp on it to grab a lure so that way you don't have to get it backlashing into your skin and hook you that was a solid grab on that hook. But thank God you're okay your family is wonderful to jump in there really fast and handle business proud of them. Anyway enjoyed the video overall except for that one little incident thank God it wasn't anything more serious but when you get some place I would have it checked out just to make sure there's no kind of infection. Anyway God bless all of you stay safe and healthy watching from Roseville California USA
