Thank you for your excellent talk, and most importantly about speaking on the subject of morcellation. I'm was a PA who had 3 presumed fibroids. One out of 3 doubled in volume in one month. As a 52 y.o.Physician Assistant, I tried to advocate for myself, asking for an open hysterectomy discussing my concerns for malignancy. I also had DUB, pelvic pain, vaginal discharge and pain with defecation. The chief of staff at Santa Clara Kaiser refused my multiple requests , thereby "forcing" me into morcellation because he said I did not qualify for an open procedure, stating I do not have cancer. (- pap, -endometrial biopsy). Two weeks later my GYN surgeon called me to tell me I have ULMS, that was "likely overcalled, so most likely atypical". Dr. Cohen, I urge you to reconsider your stance on morcellation. If I cannot advocate for myself, how can other women who are not in the medical field? Please reconsider your stance of "informed consent", not just for ULMS, but also for missed diagnosis of other cancers that can affect young women, which have "occultly" been found by pathologists. I know that surgeons at Santa Clara are given bonuses or pressured to comply with admininstrative's goals to morcellate rather than perform a laparotomy. Medicine is not the same as it was years ago...."Informed consent" will not protect the patient, but only "liability" of surgeons and institutions. Please respond, or feel free to email me. facebook.com/campaignagainstmorcellation/?ref=bookmarks Sarah Salem-Robinson PA-C sarahssr@gmail.com

Appreciated this, thankyou. I have 16cm growing fibroid & they are not sure it is benign. I am having MRI but am thinking hysterectomy (while keeping ovaries), is probably way to go if they are not 100% sure is benign. Will definitely be advocating for self.

@@tarab7773 It went really well! It was benign & I kept all my bits. Was left with a vertical scar up my stomach, but besides that all is very good. Thanks for asking & I hope you're well too!

Hi there, I have leiomyosarcoma, and I had it removed, but it came back. The first I tried chemo I didn’t work. But now I’m on Gemzar • Taxotere- and it’s shrinking my tumors. SURGERY is the most effective treatment….but I’m not a candidate bc of the location. Highest response rates for chemos: > 35% Gemzar • Taxotere > 30% Doxorubicin + Ifosamide • 18.5% Olaratumab + Doxorubicin > 11% Trobectedin (Yondells)

Grateful for the explanations. My wife has leiomyosarcoma and more than once has had surgery to remove tumors in the pelvic region. She doesn't do radium or chemo as it has been shown by several tests that her tumors do not respond to these treatments. She is afraid that the vaccine could make the tumors appear in other parts of the body, making removal difficult and eventually leading to her death. Are there any studies on this relationship?

What was her treatment plan? Did she have hysterectomy? What caused the death, just the spread?

@@Bujji0423 She is very much alive! :-) There is no chemotherapy or radiotherapy treatment. We are awaiting the results of a test that may indicate immunotherapy treatment.
