Surging Predator 4k watt generator Repair.

How to fix a surging/hunting generator this machine is a Predator 4k watt but this should work on almost any generator you have. Just focus on cleaning out the piolet jet on the carburetor and you should fix your surging issue up really quick.

This generator looks to be about 99% identical to my Firman. Had to change a bad spark plug. Still surged. tried for 3 days to figure out why. Then I found out I had put the wrong gaskets on. Geezus!. Well all is fine now.

Out of curiosity, do you need to disassemble the whole carb? Or could you just pull the idle jet straight from the side?

I do in alot of my newer videos this was kinda a old video. I charged 80 because I did oil change too, and yeah I have ADHD slow is not an option 🙃

I have this exact generator. Will cleaning or replacing the carb fix the fact it shuts down when switching the choke to the run position? Currently, it surges like this one did but runs in the Start position. No matter how long it runs in the start position, as soon as I switch the choke to Run, it dies. Thanks!

As a small tool mechanic Honda 7000kw is the best generator..stay away from any small engine made by Briggs and Stratton! Vanguard! Kohler! Pure junk

How do you know how much to screw in the idle screw? If you screw it in a touch too much, or too little, will the engine idle poorly?

Normally a fresh out box doesn't matter but the engine wears down yes too much or too little will make the engine run poor

Surging/hunting of an unloaded construction generator is entirely normal. They stop surging/hunting for a stable RPM under a load. If it hunts over >40% load just stick a piece of foam under the governor spring to slow the throttle arm's oscillation down. Makes it run nice and smooth and doesn't hinder operation!
