Good Sir! Thanks so much for your vids, especially the ones about your 2020 ICT. I've been lurking quietly, especially for the past month, because a 2020 ICT (XL) showed up on Craig's about a month ago in my town. I kept an eye on it, watched the price drop from $1600 to $1500, and told myself I needed to just walk away. But-- while I love my 2012 Mukluk, I have wanted an ICT forever. A few days ago, I was actually able to get it for even less than asking price. Quite a different ride feel compared to the Mukluk! And I just cannot quit grinning! So, zero buyer's remorse. Again, your insights have been super helpful. Thanks again and see you on the trails!

Awesome, congrats! I’d say you got a heck of a deal in this current bike market! Prickly Pear is the best color in my biased opinion!😂 Enjoy! Much more planned for my ICT the rest of this year as well!!

Nice video. I ride tires with spikes in winter. I don’t risk sliding on ice. My winter bikes are a Rivendell Atlantis and a 2017 Surly Ice Cream Truck. Love them both!
@ElevationEveryWeekend4 жыл бұрын
I have not used spikes yet on the bike. Generally in the winter I try to get good conditions up in the mountains, but yes the occasional hard pack icy spot is treacherous without traction! Thanks for stopping by and checking it out!

I do ride the Surly ECR and never would of thinking l would want bigger than 29+ .. I do like the lce Cream Truck... and nice color... I love the ECR and Surly brand...I would consider this bike.. geometry must be close to the ECR..
@ElevationEveryWeekend3 жыл бұрын
You can do a lot with a plus size tire, but for legit snow performance larger fat tires are essential, and even required in some snow trail areas. The ICT is a little more trail geo than the ECR, which is targeted for bikepacking and touring, but it’s not a drastic difference. Thanks for watching!!

Love your content. How do you like the color of that ICT? At first I thought it was too loud but it’s starting to grow on me.
@ElevationEveryWeekend3 жыл бұрын
Thanks I appreciate that! As for the color, when I bought the bike I would say it wouldn’t have been my first color choice, but after seeing it in person I wouldn’t change it. I’ve never had a bike get so many smiles, waves, and comments either. Thanks for watching, much more to come!

What size chainring are you running in the front? Also who makes the chainring and cranks? I am switching my Beargrease drivetrain for a 1x10 to a 1x12. Sticking with Shimano group set. Thank. Great channel!
@ElevationEveryWeekend3 жыл бұрын
The chainring is a 30t, which on this bike with the 12spd SLX does just fine. The crankset is by Raceface, been happy with the drivetrain on the ICT! My Beargrease is 1x11 Deore, and it really needs a bump up to a 32t for me on that bike. Thanks for watching!
@andrewmusarra2533 жыл бұрын
Thanks. I just ordered a 30t wolf tooth front ring that is specifically for the new 12 sp shimano hg+ chain. It is a direct mount that integrates with the race face cranks that came on my Beargrease. I debated getting a 32t like you but plan to bike pack this bike on the CT ( I too live along the Front Range not far from the start of the CT). So the heavy load and climbing are a factor in that decision. If it pedals too easily I can bump it to a 32t. Keep the videos coming!
@ElevationEveryWeekend3 жыл бұрын
@@andrewmusarra253 Yeah I think you are probably right on target with the 30t with the 12spd rear, and especially if you’re going to be bikepacking in the mtns. At this point I think I am going to use my ICT as a bikepacking rig and target the Beargrease for lighter weight and speed. Thanks for watching!!

Thank you for doing these videos. Thinking of an Ice Cream Truck for the next winter and I was wondering about your comments re: pavement riding. I need to ride on about 1-2kms of pavement (sometimes snow covered but often cleared here) in order to get to our river valley trail system where I will find lots of snow trails. Would that be problematic or is a short pavement ride not a big deal (tread wear? You mentioned something about tires howling that I didn't quite understand). Thank you!
@ElevationEveryWeekend4 жыл бұрын
There would be no issue at all doing short to moderate stretches of paved or hard surfaces. I have hundreds of miles on these tires in hard surfaces and there is very little wear, they are very durable. At high speeds on pavement or hard pack dirt they are pretty loud, but that’s a fact for any aggressively treaded tire, even on trucks. I highly recommend the bike, you will love it! Thanks for stopping by!

Great review! I have tested both the medium and large and am trying to decide. Did you go with the large size?
@ElevationEveryWeekend4 жыл бұрын
TiredTrout Thanks! I did go with the large. My Pugs is a medium and I am at the high side of its range, went with a large ICT and am glad I did. I am 5’11” for reference.

Awesome, thanks. I am 5’11” too so that is good to know.

Keith Greig Awesome congrats! Yeah I did a frame protection video on the ICT. I do it on all my bikes, it’s a must if you ride anything rocky or with gravel though. Thanks for watching!

I've got a Moonlander. What pressure do you have the tyres at? I have the same. It's a pity it doesn't have the same horizontal rear drop outs that the new Puglsey frame has for fitment of a Rohloff hub.
@ElevationEveryWeekend4 жыл бұрын
I actually don’t track the tire pressure accurately with a gauge, I should start doing that. I keep it higher for gravel grinding and then drop it in the snow based on feel and performance. Yeah the Pugs is definitely a more versatile bike, I have a 2014 Pigs and I do love it. This new ICT does perform better though and will be better suited for trail use I suspect.
