Great alternative to the Benno Boost, love the big wheels!
@LucasH567 Жыл бұрын
As a happy Benno Boost owner of 4 years, I can attest to this design being great for an urban dweller that doesn’t have a garage, and doesn’t want to own a car. but needs an e-bike that can easily fit through doors and gates, be carried up a flight of stairs, and haul a 50lb kid on the back rack. Great work Surly, this is a fine addition next to the Big Easy. Let’s get more families out of their cars, and onto ebikes!

This looks more like an all round utilitarian bike more than a dedicated cargo bike. So I'm not sure calling it a cargo bike is really doing it justice. I'm in the market for an all rounder shopper, cargo, commuting, mini touring, socialising, fun e-bike and that looks very much like an ordinary analogue bike which I still want. I currently have a hybrid workhorse which has a variety of racks and bags for every use and I have two trailers for carrying everything from 70kg of weekly family shopping to a full sized lawnmower. I just want something that will help me do more and go further. This has been very interesting. I'm also 6'7 so I really do need a very large frame size so I will have to check that out too.

Very nice "less aggressive" cargo design. It seems to have all the needed/desirable features. Now how about offering a similar bike (perhaps frame only) but without the mounting for the mid drive motor? Something with a 175mm rear dropout spacing so a rear hub Bafang G62 motor can be used (for those that prefer hub motors and a less expensive ebike build) but just not necessarily as over sized as the full on "fat tire" bikes. This would open up cargo ebikes to more people. It could also just make for a killer all season class 3 ebike with room for really aggressive studded winter tires/fenders, but with a nice relaxed geometry. Maybe call it the "Skid Lite"?

Just by memory this seems close but more relaxed (which it can be because of the assist kit). I feel like the blackborrow was more like a long mountain bike and had a larger rack. Also I think it had a lot more tire clearance and may have run on wider axles.
@mrhankbotful2 жыл бұрын
@@RBradenG can confirm. I'm having a custom frame made that mimics the Blackborow in its mid length cargo bike form, it rides like a stable mountain bike, but clears 27.5x4.5ish tires if I remember correctly.

Not really compact with wheels that large and a standard bike frame. I think in the Ebike world, "compact" would be more along the lines of at most 20inch wheels, and most likely with a folding frame. The bike in this video is more of a standard commuter bike.
