I run the same setup in one of my rigs. Great motor. Option to program ESC is a very good idea to set parameters. Motor is very smooth. ESC is similar to my Reedy from element knightrunner. And they both use same programming card. 80 A means what ESC can deliver to motor under continuous load. It will also have a peak amps. Usually about 120. That's when you get stuck and motor stalls so it draws more current. That's only momentary and can damage esc in long run. Great review and good video. Keep up a great work. Another great video! I believe the 50 amp rating is just how many amps the ESC can handle under a continuous load. It's my understanding that most ESC's can take quite a bit higher amperage load in bursts but will get hot or burn up given a little time. I think there's a formula that you can tell the amperage of the battery's output given the C rating, but I forget. I'm pretty dumb,especially when it comes to the electronic end of things lol. In the future if this doesn't have the low end control your looking for check out Holmes Hobby's motors their the best in the business and still very reasonably priced for what you're getting. Good content man

I just bought the Spektrum fusion se 1800 brushless 2 in 1 for $70 at my local hobby shop. The 1200 version is $60. I was originally going to get a Holmes Hobbies crawl master to go with my 1080 esc, but I couldn’t pass up brushless for about $45 more. It is slower, faster, smoother and more efficient than any comparatively priced brushed system.

Is there a way to calibrate the throttle with this esc? That’s the only issue I have with this, on mine it’s full speed at about 70% throttle pull and doesn’t start till about 20%, so I only have like 50% of the trigger to actually control it, not ideal for crawling at all. I can set the endpoint with my controller so it sort of solves the full speed but not the low end, and adding expo or dual rates really exacerbates the lower dead-band.

Is the esc really waterproof? I am tempted to buy it because my surpass motor is holding up for more than 2 years with mud and river crossing. And how does it compared to the hw1080?

It says it is but I don't do water lol, compared to the HW they are different low speed worlds man, the throttle control is AMAZING!
