Surprise Birthday Weekend in Oregon - Pendleton Underground Tour

For Chris' birthday I planned a surprise weekend trip with lots of Western history fun, including the Pendleton Underground Tour, Pendleton Heritage Museum and an awesome birthday dinner at Hamley Steakhouse and Saloon. Such a fun weekend!

Question for you. I went on this tour quite a few years ago (maybe 12?) and I remember something about it that still intrigues me. We went into this one room where the guide informed us about how there used to be mothballs used in there, like in the 1930s or so. The mothballs were long gone (at least I think they were), but you could still smell them even after such a long time! Did they still have that on your tour? And one more: Part of our tour included a walk through what used to be an old brothel. It was a nearby building. This was especially funny because I was with a church group when I was there! Did they still have that as part of the tour?

I don't recall smelling the moth balls but we did tour the brothel. I bet that was a little uncomfortable touring it with a church group. 😀

What kind of sick twisted parents would drag their kids to Pendleton Oregon and stay at a Best Western when they could have stayed at wild horse resort and casino with the cineplex and arcade in arcade good godman

Honestly, we are not casino people so I didn't really even look into Wild Horse, plus we were going to experience the history of the area, not just hang out at a resort. Our daughter is an adult and she was happy to go with us. There was no dragging involved. We all had a very nice time but I'm sure Wild Horse is a ton of fun as well.

@@lovinlifesjourney4291 They have a awesome museum/informative building i think is called Tamastilikt that has tons of artifacts and cool historical documents..There's some cool places like it in Walla Walla to aswell as the Fort Walla Walla tour..

@@lovinlifesjourney4291 also you don't have to stay at the casino hotel they have a 2nd hotel that isn't directly attached to the casino called the lodge... They have a great restaurant a great movie theater/arcade and bowling alley and a 5 minute drive up I 84 is cabbage hill and a beautiful viewpoint as well and they have a great golf course
