I miss late 80's/early -mid 90's Saturday night tv! Shows like Blind Date, Gladiators, You Bet, Surprise Surprise, You've Been Framed, Beadle's About, etc. The WHOLE family would sit in on a Saturday night with a take-out, put on LWT and watch all these great programmes back-to-back, and the whole family would enjoy them all. Saturday night TV used to be pure gold! Thumbs up if you were part of the Sat night LWT generation - and miss it!

I've made this comment on a few old TV shows I've found on YT, but I swear that the early to mid nineties are still the best years of my life. It was a mix of primary school, starting high school and TV programs. I guess some of us consider it a great blessing to have such memories.

This is beautiful. The way she knowingly turns to camera at 0:27 and pumps her fists, egging that potent horn section on as they steam into the refrain, also leaning back slightly to add a 'goading' quality to the gesture. And, as if taking it up a semitone on three separate occasions isn't enough, there's a subtle tempo increase from start to finish - bet that was Cilla's idea. Wouldn't be surprised if she dubbed that liquid sax solo as well. One of the greats.

they had a show based on this in the states, (it was called surprise surprise surprise, and it was aired on cbs as a special on may 14 1999, however i think they were planning to make it a regular series, I say that because at the end of the second segment the announcer says "Do you want to surprise someone by making their dreams come true or reunite them with a loved one?" and it told you where to write and it gave the show's web address.) (BUT unfortunately, but not surprisingly, nothing happened after this special.) the surprises were kinda lame, especially the 2nd one, (A lawyer named AJ whose wife was sick of his obsession with wrestling, his wife had an EXACT replica of his living room brought to the set and his wife and brother treated him to a prerecorded staged match between the two of them,) and the furniture was destroyed, (but the announcer said at the end of the segment, "The furniture broken in the preceding segment was an exact replica, surprise, surprise AJ" the only surprise that i really liked was the 3rd segment, an older woman from New Jersey was reunited with her childhood friend.
