The production on this episode looked so cheap. The set (or what there is of it) looks cobbled together from items bought at The Range and the new edits to the opening titles look lens flare-tastic.

Yes. I agree. I also note Cilla stood and waved for a very long period of time at the end of this show, where she would normally walk-off and wave. I guess she knew that this would be her very last Surprise Surprise. Agree on the set - it looks awful!

Defo. I bet Granada , who bought LWT and removed all regional channel references/branding apart from production endcaps (at this stage ) had destroyed the set and thus had to cobble-together a new one. Cilla definitely seems subdued here. Does make me wonder that if LWT hadn't been bought out, would they have carried on with the show as normal, revamping it every few years, as had been done previously. The title music (with minor saxophone embellishments) was 21 years old by this stage !
