Kada- I started Barbie collecting 45+ years ago because my daughter was a little girl. She is now an almost 50 year old woman. She was such a tom-boy, and hated Barbies. I loved them. They reminded me of the fun I had with my best cousin then, Jackie. We played with Barbie every day. All the time. Now I am an old lady and still collecting Barbies and Kens. I try hard to control myself, but my doll room over floweth. (ja, ja) So, dear Kada- Just have fun and enjoy your Barbies. Never be disappointed- enjoy life!!! I am loving your 1980 Barbie dream pool. Too cute.

@@kadawalden i collect dolls because dolls make me happy and remind me of my innocent days....i also love cats....see your little kitty in back ....also girl...husbands what can you do with them....they just do not understand what these dolls mean to us...growing up i played with these toys and then trashed them...i had no idea that i would want them back so badly when becoming an adult...i am buying back all of my childhood toys...it is expensive....but it is my money to spend

So for me, my parents never bought me the dream house (a frame) or the pool and I’ve always wanted them. I found the yellow a frame house on fb marketplace for $100 and bought that. Ive seen the pool at an antique store but sadly its too big and i am funny about buying old toys that had water features but i think its so cool you got this! Memories unlocked!! One of my best gf got EVERYTHING back in the day and we’d play with the pool, a frame house, fashion counter sets for hours💜

Omg congrats on getting the Dream Pool. This was definitely on my bucket list. I found it almost a year ago at the swap meet and I couldn’t believe it, I got it for $40 and it was one of my best finds because just as you mentioned, it’s really expensive on eBay and that’s not even including how much the shipping is. My next item that I really want is the Barbie Dream Cottage from 82

been thinking about your pool all day (as you do!) and was thinking could you add a string with fabric that can pull back to reveal a secret under pool room? you could have some little critters or garden fairies under there or mice.....like a borrowers situation, it could be so fun and turn a disappointment into a treasure ❤❤❤

That pool is AMAZING! Your husband’s reaction was the same as mine’s when I brought home the 1985 pink A-Frame dream house I found at a Goodwill for only $4 (I had the yellow/orange one when I was a kid so there was no way I was leaving that house behind)! I do have a bunch of my Barbies from when I was a kid but my parents got rid of all the big stuff (the furniture, dream house, play sets, etc). I’m glad I still have some of my original dolls but would have loved to have my old accessories and play sets to share with my 5 year old daughter (who is just as big a Barbie lover as her mom)!

I’m loving the pool even without the lattice it’s awesome! I’m still on the hunt for the Townhouse that I got in the mid ‘70s for Christmas. It was the only thing I asked for but was told “Santa is poor this year”. Well, somehow Santa came up with the money🥲. I get that weird but cool feeling of nostalgia too. I actually have this pool with the lattice, because it came with a Barbie Dream house that I purchased from Facebook Marketplace. It was a crazy great deal. I had to ask a friend to get it for me, because I don’t own a vehicle. The seller was selling her daughter’s childhood Barbie’s that she didn’t want. My friend called me from the driveway and said I don’t think I have enough money. The garage door was open and she saw the house, pool, doll case and many plastic bags on a table. It was wild. I got a Barbie pink workout set and a blue Barbie office set.The sellers husband helped my friend pack her truck. I got Everything for $100.00. Since everything was already put together all I had to do was clean the items. 😊

My three top grail toys are the 1978 Dream House (A frame), the Star Traveler, and this Dream Pool. My sister had the house and the motor home, sadly we never had the pool. I don't have space for them, but I would love to add them to my collection if I ever get a bigger space for my collection. The only non doll item in my collection is the 1970's Country Camper. Being a boy, I had to live vicariously through my sister's toys. But I still managed to save some of my action figures from the time. My collection is very diverse, and I totally agree with the feeling of nostalgia being the driving force behind my collection.

Hello my vintage friend! We must share the same age because we share all of the same memories growing up. Good for you! It doesn’t matter that it’s only April your new pool is open!!! 💦 The only big Barbie accessory that I owned as a lil girl was the purple superstar Corvette. My friend Jill who lived up the hill had the Barbie townhouse, so at least I got to play with hers. She also owned the yellow camper but honestly, we spent more time sitting on it and riding up and down her driveway lol. I always wanted that pool but never had it. Probably because my mom didn’t want water all over the place.😂 I don’t think it matters that the latice work is missing. It kinda looks like a swell place to hide for Barbie and Ken to make out. 😂😂😂 P.S. I would love to see a similar video of the townhouse and camper by the way.

I absolutely did a lot of re-buying childhood dolls and playsets. The coolest one for me (also the most costly...but no regrets!) was the camper minivan from 1995. It had so many cool accessories and features and I had so much fun reassembling it from all the pieces I collected from different sellers. It really does spark a special kind of joy, like reconnecting with an old friend.

I have one Barbie from my past only as Mom threw out everything else. I never had play sets etc. I made a doll room for the few Barbies I owned with a wooden crate, leftovers of linoleum etc. cereal box bed. I think my barbie is 1967?

I started collection when my mom bought me my first barbie when I was 11. I stopped for many years as I got married had kids. I started buying for my daughter in the 80s. We divorced I moved out and my brother in law gave them all way for free at the curb outside in spring clean up. I was very upset he did this. I started collection again in the late 90's. I love Barbie. Congrats on the pool. That is so cool. I need to find this. I had the large A frame house and it was complete with bike and flowers, furniture I sold it for 125.00 with I kept it.
