Straps are lighter and cleaner to work with, but there's just something about equipment and chains that seems to go together. Obviously that's just my personal preference. V-Belt seems like he's more accustomed to making do with what works and pays the bills. I'm sure he will be happy with the new trailer though. Like any father, he want's his kids to have what they need to succeed rather than to spend $$$ on himself. No doubt he is very proud of you!

The reason why chains and equipment go together is because dot would a field day with you if you used straps on 15k mini ex.

I use chains when possible. In 15 years have only replaced a couple. Straps need replacing quite often.

got my new Diamond C on order...... after your comparison video a while back, i gave all the trailers at my local dealer a good look, and you can see the Diamond C trailers are better all the way around, plus being able to customize your build to what you need is awesome. Diamond C owes ya one...... enjoy the new trailer pops. edit: from what I've found (and yes it's not very clear for pickup truck maximum length) a single vehicle cannot be over 40' in length with a class C licenced driver. they don't really specify combined vehicle length, and if you were to think about it, many RV trailers are way over 20' long making the total for the average 1/2 or 3/4 ton extended cab pickup truck much longer than 40' total.

I know you mentioned having a spare in the toung box. What if you mounted the spare on the side like at the stake pockets like some trailers since for what you’re doing it may not get in the way there that way you have the box open for other items

Diamond C trailer must love you for all the trailers you have bought. In washington you need CDL for anything with combined wieght of 26000

That's Federal regulations...so all 50 states. Unless you meet the exceptions like RV, military or fireman etc

Very nice equipment you have. I might be wrong but you're tie down tail is the wrong direction. I don't think it's supposed to go underneath the handle I think it's supposed to go the same direction as the long hook.
