Seeing videos like this one is priceless, especially since many fathers simply weren't around for their children at that time or had passed away at an early age. It's a true blessing for this family to still have their 99-year-old Dad around with his mental facilities still intact so he can appreciate the moment. It's funny how at my age now it's the simple loving moments given to or by your family that's feels the most important. Because when people their age were young, may of them were sent to war. That generation is old now, so most of the older men have been in the military.
@noahballard14695 жыл бұрын
Tyler Barrett That’s because the government sent them into a war that we had no business being in and the genera public was also against the war. When they came back from war they were ridiculed and looked down upon. Even WW2 vets were against them because they were seen as the great generation because they came home victorious. The experiences they had also still haunt many of them and they never received the care they needed. That’s why so many Vietnam Vets ultimately commit suicide.

My cousin and I did something similar with my grandpa's '57 Chevy Bel Air. Sadly my grandpa passed a month or so before we finished it, but he knew we were fixing it up for him. Now every year we take it for a drive to go visit his grave so he can see it running again. Every time I take it for a spin I can swear I feel his presence in the car with me. That car was a major milestone for him in his life. First car he bought with his own money and it was the car he took my grandma on their first date in. Now that it's up and running we plan to keep it that way. It's what he would have wanted.

What a wonderful thing to do for your dad, he's fantastic, to still have his faculties at 99 years old is truly a gift. I think he is 2 years older than my dad would have been, unfortunately he passed away in 2011 aged 88. He was also a WW2 Veteran, In his case a paratrooper in the British Army. You must be as proud of your dad as I was of mine. Just like the car, they don't make them like that anymore. It was truly emotional to see him drive his beloved car again. It is wonderful that you were able to grant his wish. He is a very lucky man to have such a loving family.

To put your daddy behind the wheel of his '55 Ford was just PRICELESS and to see him driving just energized him. His eyes were as wide as a bug as he had the time of his life driving his old friend. Bless your hearts to all you good folks who cleaned up daddy's old 55 Ford. He was just like a young man again. Awesome! He's worth it. He's earned it. Why he's 99!
