Having a bit of a rough week coming to terms emotionally with my ectopic loss (now that it seems my body has done a majority of the healing). I had an unusual sign of hope though, so I wanted to share that along with my first period after I ruptured. I also share a garden update!

Hi, I'm Maggie and I have Crohn's disease. I am thrilled to be here sharing my personal experiences with Inflammatory Bowel Disease as well as living with an ostomy. I'm proud to share a little bit from a clinical experience as well, having worked as a GI pediatric nurse and ostomy telehealth nurse. I am so glad you are here. ♥ #ibd #crohnsdisease #ostomy

Maggie, as an experienced gynecologist, I can say that I have seen so many cases of ruptured ectopic pregnancies in their first pregnancy. More than 90% had successful pregnancies later on. Positivity matters . So be positive . You have a very good future. Best wishes

That is good to hear. I had a mc in Jan at 11 weeks then ectopic emergency surgery at 6 weeks 3 days ago. I'm in so much pain! I want a child so badly but I'm scared that this will happen again. Hope my tube heals up or othertube is used next pregnacy.

Our furthest along loss was at 30 weeks gestation, when out son died in utero. His birthday was yesterday, May 8. Honestly, we just deal because there is no other choice. My husband died just 4 weeks after our last loss, of 3 losses. Losing him, I didn't think I would survive. I did because we have living kids who need a living parent to raise them. No other choice.

Maggie, I am so sorry. Losing your baby is one of the worst pains there is. I know its been a really tough journey for you, and I'm in awe of your strength. I'm built like a mac truck and had a miscarriage and it was horrible. Every morning waking up bleeding heavy and reminding me that I lost my child. I got through it. You will get through this too. ❤

Hi Maggie. I'm sorry that getting your period stirred up emotions. Of course seeing blood would bring up what happened last month. Of course your hormones would be all over the place. You are allowed to cry. It's a natural response. Your garden looks lovely! The irises look so pretty. Interesting moth. Definitely a sign. I believe in things like that. Sending hugs and healing prayers. ❤❤🙏🫶

Our first pregnancy was an ectopic that ruptured. This fall it will be 47 years. I often think about our first baby and get sad. We had two children within two and a half years after. My husband and I were so young and stupid about these things. I remember asking repeatedly why they just couldn't move the baby to where it belonged. It helps to have support that shares your loss and not talk about it as if it wasn't anything precious to you. Never ever apologize for being sad. I am glad you are healing so well.❤

Maggie, I am so sorry for your loss. What you are describing is grief…you are grieving…it’s natural and expected so don’t put pressure on yourself or question your feelings/emotions. I too have experienced miscarriage loss and it hurts. I am a believer in Jesus, that’s the only way I get through life’s challenges. You will heal- in all ways. I am glad that you find beauty and comfort in flowers and other plants and in that little moth that came to visit you - life has many joys and wonderful things in it too. Rest, reflect, and heal.

Hey this is a good sign, it means you’re ovulating, it means you can get pregnant & are fertile. You only need ONE ovary & ONE tube. It’s going to be alright & so are you. Don’t dwell on the tragic you can’t change the past, good things are ahead. I’ve had 4 c-sections & have that beautiful scar that is still numb but I don’t care one moment. It shows your life. You’ve been through way worse with the greatest courage. I don’t think many of us could do that. Big hugs don’t be afraid ❤

I can definitely understand your fear when you got your period. It's a form of ptsd. I don't think you will ever forget about your experience, but hopefully, you will have a happy experience later, and that will be so much better to have memories of. I hope I said that right. I have a tendency to ramble on. Mother's day might be a little difficult because of your recent loss. I'm glad that you are going to be with your family. Plus, it's something to look forward too. I loved seeing your garden. The moth or butterfly was definitely a sign.

Never feel bad for the time or depth that you grieve your loss, Maggie! There was an INSTANT connection, that I never would have guessed or expect would be so incredibly strong from the VERY MOMENT I found out I was pregnant (and I found out VERY EARLY). So, please never doubt that the loss you are feeling is just as valid and deeply felt as others have felt with a later loss. ❤️❤️❤️ I also know it’s common for the Lord to send us special little signs of love and hope in our time of grief. And a butterfly is definitely a symbol used in association with rebirth after a death, because of the caterpillars death in the cocoon and rebirth as a butterfly. 🦋 Know you and Zac are so loved and remain in our prayers! ❤️

The addition of pmdd adds to the emotional part of everything (I hope I'm remembering that diagnosis right). I know my faith got me through my miscarriage. It wasn't a planned pregnancy, but it's hard any way you look at it. Everyone deals in a unique and different way, so remember that there is no right or wrong way to grieve. You have a huge support group to lean on between your family, friends, and all of us❤

I had that same experience once when I was extremely sad. I was sitting on my back steps crying and a monarch butterfly came and sat on my knee for a few moments. I think they come to comfort us and let us bask in their silent beauty. Really, it's God reminding us that the God who made the beauty of nature made you too. Sometimes he breaks us to draw us nearer.

The physical effects of this event heal before one's brain can come to terms with it. Yes, you do not forget; nor should you. However the intensity of the pain, in my mind I image the sharp edges of a triangle, will become less sharp as times goes on. The object isn't to forget or wipe out the memory, the your job (whether you choose to accept it or not😉) is to make this memory part of your history, your past. For now work on the present with the veggies, flowers, butterflies, puppies and the person who has been by your side this whole time. We all deserve a vacation, make this your time.

Hi Maggie, I really need some support and advice. I have severe endometriosis and adenomyosis. My reproductive organs are stuck to my bowel due to endometriosis and I have been bleeding nonstop due to adenomyosis. The gynaecologist is now telling me that I will need a bowel reconstruction when I have my hysterectomy and that I may have a temporary stoma which may become permanent. I have been watching you for 2 years and you have really helped me understand what a stoma is and how to live with one. Deep down I must have known this was going to happen to me eventually. I am upset because I am also fighting cancer right now so it’s just a lot all at once. I was born disabled and I also have autoimmune diseases to deal with as well. The gynaecologist is telling me that I won’t be able to swim or be in the pool with a stoma! Is this true?! I was having a hysterectomy so that I can go swimming/hydrotherapy again. It is the only exercise I can do with all my disabilities and health issues. I stopped taking the pill and all hormonal options to stop the bleeding are out of the question due to numerous liver tumours and haven’t stopped bleeding since! The only solution now is a hysterectomy and what is the point if I cannot swim anyway. Also I have a connective tissue disorder with fragile thin skin and slow healing. I am allergic to a lot of adhesives. Are there ostomies and solutions for people with weird skin and healing issues like me? I have sooo many questions! If anyone can please help me navigate this, it will be greatly appreciated. ❤
