Husband never strapped the battery correctly so when we went around a roundabout it escaped through the hatch. He also didn’t lock the battery box door ! New E&P system fitted in January - towed to Southport not realising they hadn’t secured the pipes correctly and they’d been rubbing along the floor. Started the leg lowering process, but as soon as the middle rams tried to start levelling, system failed and we couldn’t get the legs down or get them back up again. Only this week we thought the onboard tank (which we’d never used before as we are usually on full service facilities) was faulty. Turns out the waste pipes under the kitchen sink had come loose and we had a mini flood situation. The joys of caravanning lol. We may be caravanners, but still love to follow your adventures - you either go to places we’ve been to before or intend to go to in the future. Currently at Lucksall in Herefordshire - highly recommend it but probably not in school holidays if you want peace and quiet. Keep up the good work xx

Hi Bob and Jenny, some very funny happenings, specially loved Poppy escaping and Jenny in the shower. Brilliant. We had a funny happening today, whilst Tony was filling up with water on our fully serviced pitch, the hose pipe came to life shot out the side of the van, all I could see was water going all over the windows, so rushed round and there was Tony fighting with this snake ha ha and covered in water. Wished I’d had the camera xx

It’s surprising how many things can happen isn’t it. You’ve reminded me - ours doesn’t have a buzzer if you’ve left the hookup cable plugged in - it would just let you drive off without warning and you know what will happen one day…. Must sort that one - thanks again for the reminder! All the best, David & Rachel 👍

When I was a child, we were towing a 19 foot single axle trailer (caravan) in Massachusetts and blew a tire on the “caravan” which subsequently bent the axle. Limped home somehow and my father ordered a new axle and replaced it himself. Luckily no one was hurt and it didn’t deter us from “RVing” as we sold the “caravan” shortly thereafter and bought a double axle trailer. Never blew a tire again.
@BobEarnshawMoHo2 жыл бұрын
That must have been a big surprise? Worrying if your trailer blows a tyre. We have a tyre pressure monitoring system called TyrePal, that can monitor tyre pressures and temperatures.

Back in my boyhood days, my parents had a touring caravan. We used to go on holiday with it in tow, for a month, every Summer. We were on the move to another site, one year. While driving beside Loch Earn in Scotland, my Father, who usually drove, looked in the rear view mirror, and guess what, No caravan! Obviously he turned back, in the direction we had been travelling. There was the caravan, sitting perched precariously on the bank of the loch. The drawbar had wedged on a tree stump, preventing the caravan from toppled into the water. A chap in a van had stopped and very kindly offered to pull the caravan back onto the road, by means of hitching a tow rope to the van, attached to the drawbar of the caravan. He successfully pulled our caravan onto the road, much to our relief. If the caravan had toppled into the water, our holiday would have been over. A tree stump and the kindness of a stranger, saved the day and the rest of our caravan holiday. The caravan couldn’t have been properly hitched onto the tow bar, on leaving our previous site. My Dad made absolutely certain from then on, that that the caravan was securely hitched only the car! It was interesting to here of the mishaps you have had with your motorhomes. People from the motor home and caravanning fraternity, must have many a tale to tell of mishaps, while touring. All the best Bob and Jenny.

Sorry to hear about the various surprises, can relate! 😯 In the 80s, when we lived in Dawson Creek, BC - Mile "0" of the Alaska Hwy - we were driving to Ft. St. John. A large gift-wrapped box, complete with a blue bow, sat on the bumper of a camper from Texas...driving in front of us. We wanted to help, naturally. No amount of flashing the lights or honking the horn did any good. Suddenly they slowed right down to exit the road and the box flew off onto the hood of our VW Rabbit! They had no idea and kept driving out of sight. Meanwhile we pulled over and saved the gift. Never saw them again unfortunately. The box was filled with small glass jars of local honey and preserves. We put an ad in the paper but the newspaper people got it wrong and wrote: Found your honey, well preserved.😊 No one called.

I don't have a motor home but a van, i remember we stopped off and i had forgot to close the sliding door, further up the road we were being beeped at waved at, i noticed it in the mirror so we pulled over, the cool bag was open and tomatoes had been falling out along with a jacket that we never found even after driving back down.

Glad to hear it's not just us. One of our unexpected experiences was in the South of France when sat nav lady directed us under a too low underpass, luckily we stopped in time & had to reverse slowly back - much to the delight of the French drivers - not!

We had a motorhome for a short while that had a back door (basically the whole of the back) that lifted right up. No garage so everything was stored in between settees at the back. We set off and my husband couldn’t understand what was going wrong with the rear view camera. We travelled about half a mile and I looked around only to discover that we hadn’t closed the massive back door. A miracle that nothing fell out. 👍🏻

Short version, coming home we poped into Canterbury, went down wrong road, as we met funeral possession man with large hat bowed his head, l opened the window he said ,dont worry u can turnaround just the right wait till possession nearly gone and join us which we did , thank you to the man in the hat, so my late husband and me and our 20foot caravan drove away

Another great video. I was very interested when you mentioned that you have a buzzer that warns you if you attempt to drive off without disconnecting the 240v cable. It has happened to me on three occasions so the buzzer seems like an excellent solution. Did your motorhome come with the buzzer as standard or is it an option that you had fitted later?

A few years back whilst driving my Elddis motorhome, I was towing a smart car which out the blue just unexpectedly caught fire on the motorway, we later noticed people waving, and like you we just thought they were being friendly, totally unaware of the seriousness, no rear camera back then, sadly the car was a write-off.
