2024 A Year Of Change

If you haven't seen our videos for a while, I was advised by my doctor to lose weight. Since March 2024 I have been on a pre-diabetic program from Reed Wellbeing, since March this year. The program is a national program sponsored by the NHS. For further information please ask your GP. So far I've lost 20kg in weight following a suggested menu plan, cutting out white bread and other high carb foods. I haven't got diabetes at 66, in fact i have no comorbidities or take prescription drugs at all and a healthy bmi and high VO2 max . I put it down to life long cycling. I am doing two 3 mile fast walks a day also ( without the dog ). Your health is largely in your own hands. As far as food goes, I only eat when i am hungry and always have a breakfast. Keep up the good work. Without your health, you have nothing.

Wow. Believe it or not Bob, I got the same diagnosis in February - borderline type 2. Unfortunately I've not had your willpower. I started to cut down on bread and the like but they are sneaking back onto the table. Blood sugar level is down but if anything, my weight's gone up slightly. Your amazing progress has given me the kick needed to try harder. Anyway, seasons greetings to you, Jenny and the pups 🎄

I was diagnosed pre-diabetic in January, cut out the carbs and exercised more, now was 3stone lighter ( I’ve put a little back on) October I had conformation that I was no longer pre-diabetic, happy and fitter!

Hi Bob just been diagnosed as diabetic, had a few signs to indicate the problem. Now under medication, which hopefully will help. I'd consider myself as very active not drinking much and eating well. Just shows how easily it is to get it wrong. Put some weight on since my knee replacement operation. So but it down to that. You look really well 👏👏 keep up the great work. Hi Bob and Jenny it’s been a very similar year for me as long Covid has left me with some health issues which I didn’t have before and it’s been an inspiration to follow your journey as I was also pre diabetic and have tried to lose weight and exercise more to reduce this with varying degrees of success! It shocked me i didn't have a plan just cut out everything like crisps/ salted peanuts, i still crave them. Dad always told me about the white bread he showed me once how the birds in his garden would not touch it lol

Your body will thank you for it and you’ll avoid all the other compliments cardiovascular disease and kidney issues. I haven’t eaten a ready meal or Mac Donald’s for at least 10 years! Hi Bob & Jenny, my husband is on a balancing act between pre diabetic and diabetic but we decided to tackle it together , like yourselves we are constantly looking at labels , buying mostly whole meal bread, pasta, rice but we have to have the occasional treat otherwise it gets pretty mundane although we know it is for the greater good. Enjoyed your 2024 review tonight. My husband normally comments but thought I would contribute as well! It was very good of you to disclose your You Tube earnings, it was something you didn’t have to do but was interesting, so thanks for that. Such a true comment, “some people are killing themselves with what they eat”. I think a lot of people get in an eating habit or addiction and don’t think about it until a health issue arises. I was diagnosed with high cholesterol and whilst I said to Michael I would change my diet, he said he was up for it too. The first couple of weeks were hard. GP said to avoid cream, cheese, cakes, pies, red meat although chicken was a better meat option and anything that was tasty! Sense of humour! We try to choose mainly green and yellow banded foods, lots of fish, veggies and vegetarian type foods. We are both two stone lighter with a further stone to go. We do have a treat when we want one, life is far too short although we are all eating too much Ultra Processed Foods. You look totally different with the weight loss but obviously feeling a lot healthier. Well done to you both and here’s to another year of exciting travels x

I appreciate all the work you put into your channel. It was a pleasure to meet you again at Rob and Lynns meet. We’ve completed our England Counties challenge in June and then in September we also completed our Welsh counties challenge. We were unable to complete a trip every month as my dad was rushed into hospital at the end of November. He is doing ok now and hopefully we will have managed 11 months this year. Really glad you made this video because I had noticed your weight loss Bob and was waiting for some sort of explanation. I think I knew what was happening as I went through the same diagnosis four years ago. I adopted a very puritanical zero carb , zero sugar diet and lost a lot of weight very quickly. I was always thin so ended up feeling fantastic but looking gaunt and actually quite ill. Theres a comical irony in that . Being plump ( and unhealthy ) makes you look healthy whilst being healthy makes you look gaunt and ill . I did lose too much weight though and more importantly I lost muscle mass (which can become a real issue if you let it go too far ) I have now reintroduced healthy carbs and added light weight training to build muscle and am now reaching a happy medium . Yes, that shows the need to have a balanced diet. My weight has been pretty stable, and I have been doing exercise for building muscles, more difficult as you get older.

Well done and congratulations Bob on doing the Pre-diabetic course. I had to complete the course this year. I went from 80kg in January to 68.9 in November at the end of the course. I am also now out of the pre-diabetic zone. So well done to you

Happy Christmas Bob & Jenny…your videos are honest and genuine, and you are making them interesting and insightful for people, especially as you say with the Moho reviews where not everyone can make it to the big shows like the NEC, however are looking for new layout ideas. You show us the scenery on route and the quality of the site facilities, unlike one other who seems to prefer filming themselves in these circumstances 🙄. We bought a Moho after watching one of your Todds reviews and we have visited a few sites based on your site reviews…wishing you all the best for 2025 and look forward to seeing more or your trips 😊
